Types of Recessed LED Downlights

Fixed downlights point straight down for general room light, while tri-colour (CCT) models let you switch between 3000K, 4000K and 5700K on the fitting. Dimmable versions adjust brightness for the right mood, and IP-rated designs suit bathrooms and covered outdoor areas. Choosing a Recessed Downlight

Check the cut-out size — 90mm is standard in most Australian homes — and confirm ceiling depth for the fitting and driver. Space downlights evenly, roughly 1–1.5m apart, for uniform light without dark patches. Use warm 3000K in bedrooms and lounges and 4000K in kitchens and bathrooms. In wet areas choose an appropriate IP rating, and pick dimmable models paired with compatible dimmers. Complete a scheme with LED strips and general indoor lighting.
