Shawl LED Garden Spike Light TRI

Shawl is solid brass with an antique finish already applied — it arrives looking weathered rather than bright, so it does not go through the awkward months where new brass is obviously new. The shade is a broad, shallow cowl, which is where the name comes from and which does real work: it shields the globe from a side-on view, so the fitting can sit closer to a path or a seating area than a bare head could.

Two placement limits worth knowing first

It is rated IP54 — splash-resistant, suitable for rain and incidental spray, but not rated for direct hose-down, for sprinklers playing on it, or for standing water. In an irrigated bed choose an IP65 fitting instead. The cable is 1 m, which is the shortest in this family — most of the Tivah range gives you 2 m. That single metre decides how far the fitting can sit from its junction point, and it is the detail most likely to be discovered at installation rather than at ordering. Plan the joint positions before you dig.

Where it works

• Beside paths and seating, where the shallow cowl keeps the source out of a side-on view.
• Hand-watered or drip-irrigated beds, given the IP54 rating.
• Traditional and cottage gardens, where an antique brass finish suits the setting from day one.
• Close to a junction or a driver enclosure — the 1 m cable is the constraint.

Specifying it

Shawl runs on 12 V DC and requires a suitable 12 V DC LED driver. Its installation sheet states "Use an appropriate 12v DC LED Driver — DO NOT CONNECT LIGHT FITTING DIRECT TO 240V", together with the two warranty conditions — no more than 25 m from the driver and supply within ±5%. The globe is a 5 W MR16, supplied and replaceable, tri-colour selectable, and the product's own table pairs it as 270 lm at 3000K, 285 lm at 4000K and 300 lm at 5500K. Against an antique brass finish 3000K is the natural match. Beam angle comes from the globe, so check it on any replacement. The head tilts through 90°, the spike is 225 mm, and the body is solid brass beneath the antique finish. It is not dimmable.
