A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
Same 190 mm bollard as the black Mini, with the stainless steel left bare — and that changes what you sign up for. A natural 316 finish looks right against sandstone, rendered walls and coastal-style planting in a way powder coat does not, and it ages rather than chips. The trade is a maintenance routine, and Havit is unusually direct about it, so it is worth reading before you choose the finish rather than after.
Havit's own product page for this part number asks you to maintain it every six months, or more frequently in coastal environments, to preserve both the appearance and the warranty, and recommends its HV9971 maintenance kit. The installation sheet puts the consequence in writing: all 316 stainless fittings require regular cleaning maintenance to avoid tea staining, and tea staining is not covered by the warranty. Tea staining is the light brown surface discolouration stainless develops when salts and grime are left sitting on it; it is cosmetic rather than structural, and it is entirely preventable with a wash.
The listing carries a 240 V AC part number and a 12 V DC one. The mains version takes a 9 W E27 tri-colour globe for 700 lm at 3000K, 720 lm at 4000K and 740 lm at 5500K and wires to the circuit with an earth. The low-voltage version takes a 5 W MR16 globe for 270 lm, 285 lm and 300 lm and must be run from a suitable 12 V DC LED driver — never connected directly to 240 V. Havit caps that run at 25 m from the driver with the supply within ±5%, and treats it as a warranty condition rather than a recommendation.
Ask Lights For You for the maintenance kit at the same time as the fittings — it is the cheapest warranty insurance on the whole order.
It is the light brown surface discolouration that stainless steel develops when salt and grime are left to sit on it. It is cosmetic rather than structural and washes off, but Havit specifically excludes it from the warranty, which is why the maintenance routine matters more on this finish than on the powder-coated black one.
Havit asks for maintenance every six months, and more frequently in coastal environments, to preserve appearance and warranty. It recommends its own HV9971 maintenance kit for the job. On an inland site twice a year is genuinely enough; closer to salt you should expect to do it more often.
They are the same fitting and the same 316 stainless body — the black one simply has a poly powder coating over it. Bare stainless suits sandstone, render and lighter hard landscaping and ages gracefully; black disappears into planting and hides marks better. The maintenance clause applies to both, but it is far more visible on the bare finish.
Supply voltage. The 240 V AC model takes a 9 W E27 globe and wires straight to the circuit with an earth; the 12 V DC model takes a 5 W MR16 globe and needs a 12 V DC LED driver. The mains version is roughly two and a half times brighter, so pick on the installation you have rather than on price.
Up to 25 metres, with the voltage at the fitting within ±5% of what it needs. Havit states that going beyond that allowance voids the warranty, so on a long run the driver position has to be planned before the cable is laid.
It covers splashing water from any direction, which is rain, sprinklers and a passing hose. It does not cover jets or standing water, so the fitting must be on its base plate above ground level with the cable entry siliconed. Somewhere that puddles after heavy rain is the wrong spot for it.
Yes. The selection is a physical switch on the side of the globe rather than a wired choice, so you take the cover off, remove the globe, move the switch and put it back. It arrives on 3000K.
