Domus BL-200 Bollard Head Garden

The Domus BL-200 is a conical bollard head in die-cast aluminium with an opal acrylic diffuser — IP54, to suit a 76 mm post, taking one E27 globe to 25 W, in beige, black, silver, green or white.

✅ Opal acrylic, not clear glass — the difference between the BL heads

This is the practical reason to choose a BL-200 and no page has ever explained it:

• BL-200 — opal acrylic. The diffuser is white and translucent, so it glows evenly and the globe inside is invisible from every angle. Softer light, no hot spot, and a fitting that reads as a lit object.
• BL-100 — clear glass. More light out, sharper, and the globe is visible through it at low angles.

✅ Acrylic also does not break the way glass does, which matters on a path, near a mower, or where a ball might arrive. ⚠ Acrylic can yellow with years of UV where glass will not — the trade a customer should make knowingly.

IP54 — and why dust is the rating that matters

Dust protected and shielded against splashing water from any direction. In an Australian garden the thing that actually dims a bollard over years is not water but fine dust and insects accumulating inside the diffuser — and on an opal diffuser that shows more, because the whole surface is doing the work.

⚠ Not for pooling water or submersion. Keep it off the low point of a driveway and out of beds that hold water.

The globe: 25 W maximum, not supplied

• A 9 W LED at around 800 lm is the sensible choice — nowhere near the 25 W ceiling.
• Warm 2700–3000 K. Cool white in a garden reads as a car park.
• ✅ Behind opal acrylic, globe shape does not matter — the diffuser hides it. That is a genuine advantage over the clear-glass heads, where a clear filament globe shows through.
• ⚠ Rated for enclosed fixtures and outdoor use.

Where it works

• Paths, driveway edges and garden beds — on a 76 mm post.
• Where you want an even glow rather than a bright source — opal acrylic.
• Exposed or high-traffic spots, where glass is a liability.
• ⚠ You still need a post, a base and a globe.
• ⚠ Height not recorded — ask us if it matters.
