Domus PANEL-BLT-312 Backlit Panel Troffer Light

The Domus PANEL-BLT-312 is a 1,200 × 300 mm backlit LED panel drawing 36 W, with a flicker-free driver and switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5700 K, in Trio or DALI.

The 1200 × 300 format, and what it is for

• It replaces a standard fluorescent troffer — the twin-tube batten fitting that sits in most older commercial ceilings.
• ✅ It drops straight into a T-bar grid in place of a 1,200 × 300 mm module, or goes into plasterboard with an optional trim kit, or surface-mounts or wire-suspends with another kit.
• ✅ 3,415 lumens at 4000 K from 36 W — about 95 lm/W, and comfortably more light than the twin 36 W fluorescent it replaces at half the power.
• ⚠ It is 32 mm deep. In a grid ceiling that is irrelevant; in a shallow plasterboard void, check it.

Backlit, not edge-lit — and on a long panel it matters more

• The LEDs sit behind the diffuser across the whole area, rather than around the rim firing sideways into a light guide.
• ✅ On a 1,200 mm panel that is the difference that shows. An edge-lit panel this long has to push light the full length from its ends, so the centre reads dimmer and banding is more visible. A backlit one is even across the whole face.
• ✅ No light guide to yellow over five or ten years, which is what makes old edge-lit panels go warm and dim.
• ✅ It is also more efficient, because the light does not travel across a panel before it escapes.

The flicker-free driver

Domus fits a harmonic filter to reduce total harmonic distortion — the cause of visible strobing and of the eye strain and headaches some people get under cheap LED panels.

• ✅ It matters most in exactly the rooms this panel goes into — offices, classrooms and workshops, where people sit under it for eight hours.
• ✅ And where cameras are used, because flicker shows as banding on video.
• ✅ It is a real specification difference, not a marketing line: standard drivers that are not flicker-free are why panel lighting has the reputation it does.

Choosing the colour

• 4000 K — the default for an office, classroom or corridor, and the brightest setting here.
• 3000 K — reception areas and anywhere the space should feel less clinical.
• 5700 K — workshops and inspection areas.
• ⚠ The Trio's dip switch is attached to the cable of the fitting, so set it before the panel goes into the ceiling.
