Neo-Pro Switchable Recessed Downlight

The Domus NEO-PRO recessed downlight is a DALI-dimmable anti-glare downlight — 13 W, 25 W or 35 W, Ø90 mm cutout (13 W), CRI ≥80, switchable 3000/4000/5700 K, in black or white.

• ⭐ The datasheet publishes IP65**, and its own footnote reads “**IP65 from front only.” ⛔ The product record publishes a bare IP65.
• ⭐⭐ ON A RECESSED DOWNLIGHT THAT FOOTNOTE IS THE WHOLE SPECIFICATION. ⭐ Front-only means the visible face is sealed against water jets and the body above the ceiling is not.
• ⭐ WHICH IS EXACTLY THE QUESTION A BATHROOM OR AN EXTERNAL SOFFIT ASKS. ⭐ A full IP65 fitting is sealed all round and can sit where water may reach it from above — a roof space that gets wind-driven rain, a soffit, a covered outdoor area. ⚠ A front-only fitting cannot.

⭐ The anti-glare deep-set frame — the reason to choose this over a flat downlight

• ⭐ The LED sits recessed behind a frosted diffuser in a deep frame, with an 80° beam.
• ⭐⭐ GLARE IS A GEOMETRY PROBLEM, NOT A BRIGHTNESS ONE. ⭐ A flat downlight puts its emitter level with the ceiling, so you see the source from anywhere in the room; a deep-set one hides it until you are almost underneath.
• ⭐ THAT MATTERS MOST WHERE PEOPLE LOOK UP OR LIE DOWN — ⭐ bedrooms, lounges, and any room with a low ceiling where the fitting is close to the eye-line.

• ⭐ This version is DALI, a digital addressable protocol, with an integrated driver on a flex and plug.
• ⭐⭐ DALI IS NOT A DIMMER YOU BUY AT THE END — IT IS A DECISION MADE AT DESIGN. ⭐ It needs a control line run to every fitting alongside the mains, and a DALI controller or gateway; you cannot retrofit it onto a circuit wired for a trailing-edge wall dimmer.
• ⭐ WHAT IT BUYS IS ADDRESSABILITY. ⭐ Each fitting has its own address, so groups and scenes are set in software rather than in the wiring — which means the lighting layout can be changed after the ceiling is closed. ⭐ On a commercial fit-out or a large house that is the whole argument.
• ⚠ ON A SINGLE ROOM IT IS USUALLY OVERKILL. ⭐ Check whether the phase-dimmable version of the same fitting suits the job before committing to a DALI infrastructure.
• ⭐ The sheet notes it is “fully dimmable with suitable dimmers” — ⚠ suitability is the operative word, and a mismatched dimmer causes flicker and buzz rather than a clean failure.

⭐ The 13 W takes a Ø90 mm cutout. ⭐⭐ ON A DOWNLIGHT THE CUTOUT IS THE ONE FIGURE TO GET RIGHT BEFORE ANYONE PICKS UP A HOLE SAW — ⭐ a hole cut too large cannot be made smaller, and the trim only covers a few millimetres. ⚠ Confirm the cutout for your wattage, not the family's. ⭐ Check the plenum depth too: a deep-set anti-glare frame is taller than a flat downlight, and a shallow ceiling void or a joist in the wrong place is discovered from the ladder.
