Domus BL-300 Bollard Head Garden Light

The Domus BL-300 is a conical bollard head in die-cast aluminium — IP54, 210 mm tall, to suit a 76 mm post, taking one E27 globe to 25 W, in beige, black, silver, green or white.

✅ IP54 — a full step better than the three-tier BL-100

This is the practical reason to choose the BL-300, and neither page said it:

• BL-300: IP54 — dust protected and shielded against splashing water from any direction.
• BL-100: IP44 — splash protected, but not dust protected.

The difference that matters is dust. On an unsealed fitting, fine dust and insects accumulate inside the diffuser over years — and in an Australian garden that is what actually dims a bollard, long before anything fails. IP54 keeps that out.

⚠ Neither is rated for pooling water or submersion. Keep both off the low point of a driveway and out of beds that hold water.

Conical or three-tier — what changes

• Conical (BL-300) — a single clean cone. Reads as contemporary and quiet, and it disappears into a modern garden.
• Three-tier (BL-100) — stepped bands. More traditional, and the tiers throw light in distinct bands rather than one spread.

Both are 210–220 mm tall and both take a 76 mm post, so they are interchangeable on the same posts — useful if you are extending an existing run and want to shift style, though ⚠ mixing them along one path reads as an accident.

The globe: 25 W maximum, and it is not supplied

• 25 W is the ceiling, and with LED you will not go near it — a 9 W LED gives around 800 lm, which is right for a bollard.
• Warm 2700–3000 K. Cool white in a garden reads as a car park.
• Opal or frosted, not clear filament.
• ⚠ Rated for enclosed fixtures and outdoor use — an unrated globe runs hot in a sealed head and fails early.

Where it works

• Paths, driveway edges and garden beds — on a 76 mm post.
• Modern gardens, where the plain cone suits better than tiers.
• Dusty or exposed sites — IP54 keeps dust out of the diffuser.
• ⚠ You still need a post, a base and a globe.
• ⚠ Not for pooling water or submersion.

Specifying it

210 mm high, head only, to suit a 76 mm post. Die-cast aluminium, powder coated in beige, black, silver, green or white. One E27 globe to 25 W maximum, NOT supplied — we suggest a warm 2700–3000 K opal LED of around 800 lm, rated for enclosed outdoor use. 220–240 V AC, IP54 — dust protected and splash resistant; not for pooling water or submersion. Warranty 1 year. Licensed electrician required.
