The Varlin PE15 is a 880 mm fifteen-light pendant in black with speckled mirrored glass shades — fifteen G9 globes to 6 W each, not supplied, on a 2,000 mm suspension.

The Varlin is made in three pendant sizes, so the likeliest explanation is that the twelve-light's datasheet is attached to this fifteen-light product. That would also put its recorded 5.4 kg in doubt — the real fifteen-light will be heavier.

We have published the record and page figures, which agree with the product name and with each other, and asked Telbix for a clean sheet. If you are hanging this over a specific table, ask us and we will confirm the width and the weight first.

Speckled mirrored glass — and why the mirror changes everything

This is what the Varlin is for, and it is genuinely unusual. The shades are mirrored, with fine speckling across them.

  • Unlit, a mirrored shade reflects the room — the ceiling, the table, the light from a window. Fifteen small mirrors above a table read as a constellation of reflections rather than as fifteen dark objects, which is why the Varlin still has presence in daylight where most pendants go inert.
  • Lit, the speckling is what makes it work. A perfect mirror would throw the G9 back as a single hard point; the speckles break the reflection into a scatter of small bright flecks, so each shade glitters rather than glares.
  • The combination gives what the copy calls an “atmospheric” output — and it is accurate: this is a fitting that throws texture around a room rather than lighting it flatly.
Fifteen G9 globes — and on mirror, what you buy matters

Fifteen G9 to 6 W each, not supplied. G9 is a small bi-pin capsule, about the size of a thumbnail, which pushes in rather than screwing.

  • Use CLEAR capsules. On a mirrored, speckled shade a clear point source is what produces the flecked reflection. A frosted G9 gives a soft glow with nothing sharp to reflect, and the effect disappears.
  • LED, not halogen. Fifteen halogen G9s inside glass shades produce a great deal of heat.
  • Warm 2700 K.
  • All fifteen together, same brand. Across fifteen mirrored shades a colour mismatch is reflected and multiplied — this is the least forgiving fitting in the catalogue for mixed globes.

It dims, with the right globes — and neither our record nor the page's specification table mentioned dimming at all. The datasheet says globe dependent, which is right.

On this fitting dimming is the effect, not a convenience. At full, fifteen sources light the room and the reflections compete with everything else. Low, the room falls back and the speckled reflections become the only thing you see. That is what the Varlin is for. ⚠ Fifteen LEDs on one dimmer is the hardest flicker case in this catalogue — matched globes, and let us check them against your dimmer.

880 mm across — and a note about the fixing

A large fitting: fifteen shades of 120 mm each spread across 880 mm, on a 150 mm canopy with 2,000 mm of suspension. It suits a long dining table, an entry or a double-height space.

⚠ The weight is uncertain. The datasheet records 5.4 kg — but that is the sheet we believe belongs to the twelve-light. A fifteen-light of the same construction will be heavier. Either way this is a structural fixing, not a hook, and on a two-metre suspension the mount takes movement as well as dead weight. Ask us for the confirmed figure before the ceiling is opened.

⚠ One correction to our own data: our record flags the Varlin as a colour-changing fitting. It cannot be — it holds fifteen push-in G9 capsules and contains no integrated LED, no driver and no control of any kind. Whatever colour you fit is the colour it stays.

Part of a five-piece range

Varlin is made as three pendant sizes, a table lamp and a floor lamp, all with the same speckled mirrored glass. That is unusually complete, and it means a room can carry one idea from the ceiling to the floor.

What do the mirrored shades actually do?

Two things. Unlit, they reflect the room — ceiling, table, daylight from a window — so fifteen small mirrors read as a constellation of reflections rather than fifteen dark objects, which is why the Varlin still has presence by day where most pendants go inert. Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.
