The Valtor TL is a 490 mm table lamp with a laser-cut cylindrical shade — black or white, both with antique gold — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied, on 1.8 metres of flex.

It plugs into a power point. Our page said it “must be installed by a licensed electrician”. It has 1.8 metres of flex and is Class II double insulated. Removed.

The laser-cut pattern — what our page was cut off before explaining

The shade is a cylinder pierced with a laser-cut pattern, so light escapes through every cut as well as out of the top and bottom. The lamp projects its pattern onto the surrounding wall and ceiling.

On a table lamp that behaves differently from the floor lamp version: the shade is close to the surface it sits on and close to the wall behind it, so the pattern lands tightly and sharply in a small area rather than spreading across a room. Beside a bed or on a console, that is a concentrated decorative effect at close range.

The globe decides how sharp the pattern is, and it is not supplied. A compact clear or lightly frosted globe gives defined shapes; a large opal globe blurs them into a soft glow. Use warm 2700 K — against antique gold, cool white reads green. Ask us and we will match one.

⚠ Think about where you put it. The Valtor table lamp is 490 mm tall with a 180 mm shade, on a 90 mm base, weighing 1.07 kg.

That is a narrow base carrying a wide shade at height, with very little mass — among the least stable proportions in this catalogue — only the Inwood, at 0.8 kg on the same 90 mm base with a wider shade, is more so. For comparison, the Renara uses the same 90 mm base but weighs 2.93 kg, because its base is stone.

It will be fine on a stable surface out of the way. On a narrow bedside table, near a walkway, or anywhere a pulled flex, a child or a pet can reach it, choose something heavier — ask us and we will suggest one.

Black or white — a choice about the effect

The antique gold frame is constant; the shade changes what you get:

  • White — the shade glows as well as projecting, so you get pattern plus a soft lit cylinder. Brighter, gentler, and it works better as a functional bedside light.
  • Black — almost nothing passes through the material, so only the cut pattern reads: sharp bright shapes on a dark form, much higher contrast, and far less useful light.

Dimming depends on the globe. Our record says “No”; the datasheet says globe dependent, and the datasheet is right. On a plug-in lamp that needs an inline or plug-in dimmer — and on a pattern-casting fitting, dimming is especially good: low, the projected shapes are all you see.

It matches the Valtor floor lamp

Same laser-cut cylinder and same finishes, at 1,500 mm with a 250 mm shade on a 250 mm base and 4.4 kg. A pair reads as one decision — and the floor lamp is much the more stable of the two.

Is it stable?

It is among the least stable proportions in this catalogue — and only the Inwood, at 0.8 kg on the same base with a wider shade, is less stable. 1.07 kg on a 90 mm base carrying a 180 mm shade 490 mm up. The Renara uses the same 90 mm base but weighs 2.93 kg because its base is stone. Do I need an electrician?

No. It has 1.8 metres of flex and is double insulated — fit a globe and plug it in. Our page said otherwise, which was wrong.

What does the laser-cut pattern do?

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
