Valora Floor Lamp

The Valora FL2 is a 1,550 mm twin-shade floor lamp in bronze with natural fibre or gun metal with black — two E27 globes to 25 W each, not supplied — on 2 metres of flex.

Two shades, two globes — and that is the point

Almost every floor lamp is one light on a stick. The Valora carries two natural-fibre shades across a 480 mm frame, each with its own globe, which does something a single shade cannot: it gives light from two heights and two positions at once. Beside a sofa that reads as a layered, ambient glow rather than a single pool — softer, and much harder to sit outside of.

Natural fibre — and the record said “iron”

The shades are woven natural fibre, and our product record listed “Iron” alone. The weave matters for the same reason it does on any woven shade: it is open rather than solid, so light comes through the shade as well as out of the top and bottom, giving a warm, broken glow. It also means the shades vary — and with two of them on one lamp, that variation is visible and intentional.

The patina finish

Bronze or gun metal, both in a patina finish — deliberately uneven, with the darker and lighter passages a real aged metal has. Against natural fibre that is a coherent pairing: nothing on the lamp is flat or machine-perfect, which is what stops a 1.55-metre object in the corner of a room looking like equipment.

1,550 mm tall, 3.8 kg, on a 230 mm base

Tall — the shades sit well above a seated head, so the light comes down over the shoulder rather than into the eye. At 3.8 kg on a 230 mm base it is genuinely stable, which for a lamp of this height beside a sofa is worth knowing — several floor lamps in this range are far lighter.

Two globes to choose, and they show through the weave

E27 to 25 W each, not supplied. Behind an open weave the globe is partly visible, so:

• Warm — 2700 K. Cool white through natural fibre looks wrong.
• Frosted or opal, not a clear filament, so each shade reads evenly.
• Buy a matching pair. Two visibly different globes on one lamp is obvious.

1,550 mm high, 480 mm across, base 230 mm, shades 180 mm wide by 160 mm high with a 120 mm top, flex 2,000 mm, 3.8 kg, in iron and natural fibre, patina. Two E27 globes to 25 W each — 50 W total, not supplied; dimming is globe dependent and needs an inline or plug-in dimmer. 240 V, plug-in — no electrician required, Class II — double insulated, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
