Vallejo 80Cm Pendant Light

The Vallejo PE80 is an 800 mm woven raffia pendant in natural — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied, on a 2,000 mm suspension.

Raffia — and the record said “iron”

The shade is woven raffia, a natural palm fibre, and it is the entire reason the Vallejo looks the way it does. Our product record listed “Iron” alone.

Because the weave is open rather than solid, light does not simply come out of the top and bottom — it comes through the whole shade, so an 800 mm Vallejo lit becomes a large glowing woven form with a warm, broken, slightly dappled quality that no paper or fabric drum produces.

It also means no two are identical: raffia is hand-woven and the weave varies. On a shade this size, that variation is part of the point.

800 mm across and only 210 mm deep

Four to one — a wide shallow disc rather than a dome. That proportion is what makes it work over a dining table without dominating the room vertically: it spreads outward, not downward, so you can hang it at a normal height and still see across the table.

The description suggests hanging a pair above a kitchen island, and at 800 mm that needs an island of about 2.4 metres to look right.

The globe is partly visible — choose it accordingly

One E27 to 25 W, not supplied. Through an open weave the globe shows, so:

• Use a warm 2700 K globe. Cool white through raffia looks wrong — the whole appeal of the material is warmth.
• Choose frosted or opal rather than a clear filament, so the weave glows evenly instead of showing a hot spot through it.
• If you are hanging a pair, buy both globes together.

Where it works

• Over dining tables — wide and shallow, so it does not block the view across.
• In pairs over an island of about 2.4 metres.
• Living rooms and entries, in coastal and bohemian interiors.
• ⚠ 5.5 kg on a 120 mm canopy — a proper structural fixing.
• ⚠ Use a warm, frosted globe. Cool white through raffia looks wrong.

One E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied; dimming is globe dependent. 240 V, Class I — earth required, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
