Vale 1 Light Floor Lamp

The Vale is a 1,500 mm floor lamp on a black metal base with a double-layered shade in white and black, taking a globe up to 40 W.

Two layers, two effects at once

The shade is built in two layers — white inside, black outside. The white inner layer bounces light down brightly onto whatever is below; the black outer layer contains it, so almost nothing spills sideways. The result is a strong pool below and a dark silhouette from across the room — a much more controlled effect than a single-layer shade produces.

40 W of headroom

Most floor lamps in this range cap at 25 W. The Vale allows 40 W, which with an LED globe means it can be made genuinely bright — and because the shade directs almost all of it downward, that brightness lands where you are sitting.

Built for reading, not ambience

Follows from the above: this is a task lamp. If you want a floor lamp that glows and lifts the whole room, an opal-glass lamp such as the Inez or Ohh is the better choice.

A 430 mm footprint

Wide enough to stand securely at 1.5 m. Check the clearance beside a chair or sofa before committing to a spot.

E27, not supplied

Colour temperature is your choice. For reading, 3000 K to 4000 K both work; the shade will do the directing either way.
