A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
Read this before you order: the 20 W Toldo runs on 24 V DC, and its two smaller siblings do not. Havit flags it in a parenthesis buried in step 4 of a shared installation sheet, which is an easy thing to miss when you are specifying a run of inground lights that otherwise look identical. This fitting cannot share a driver with the 3 W or the 5 W. It needs its own supply, sized for it, and a driver of the correct output.
Havit publishes 1600 lm at 3000K, 1700 lm at 4000K and 1800 lm at 5500K from a 30° beam, which is roughly three and a half times the 5 W. That is not a bigger garden light — it is a facade light. It is the fitting for throwing usable light up the full height of a mature tree, a two-storey rendered wall or a stone pier, where a smaller uplight fades out halfway. Output rises with colour temperature, so 5500K is the brightest setting and 3000K the dimmest. The head tilts through 15°, the tightest adjustment in the range, so position matters more here than on the smaller two — set the fitting where the beam wants to go rather than expecting to aim it afterwards.
The cutout is Ø212 mm, or Ø218 mm with the canister — a substantial excavation, and worth setting out before paving or turf goes down. Havit requires adequate drainage underneath and voids the warranty without it: a 100 mm space beneath the canister, 100 mm to 150 mm of crushed rock below that, and a slight decline on the finished ground so water runs away from the fitting. The canister has to finish level with the ground, and silicone goes round the edge of the fitting once it is seated. IP67 is temporary-immersion protection, not a permit to leave it under water.
A suitable 24 V DC LED driver is required. Do not connect it directly to 240 V. Havit requires the voltage arriving at the fitting to be within ±5% or the warranty is void — a real constraint at 20 W over a long cable run. Fittings are wired in parallel, the fitting is polarity sensitive and reversing it causes a failure that is not covered, and the anti-syphon valve and male and female connector on the 300 mm tail must both remain fitted for the warranty to stand. The light source is a built-in LED: no globe, no socket, nothing to replace.
316 stainless steel cover, aluminium body finished black. Havit requires regular cleaning on all 316 stainless fittings to prevent tea staining and excludes tea staining from the warranty, recommending its HV9971 maintenance kit. Lights For You supplies the HV1829T under Havit's 3 Years Replacement warranty for items ordered after 01/01/2022; every figure here is taken from the HV1829T data sheet and the Toldo installation instructions.
No. The HV1829T is a 24 V DC fitting and the other Toldos are not. Havit's own installation sheet carries the exception in step 4, calling for a 24 V DC driver for HV1829 models specifically. Give it a dedicated driver sized for its load, and check the input voltage printed on every fitting before joining anything to a shared run.
Havit's HV1829T data sheet gives Ø218 mm with the canister and Ø212 mm without. Cut to the canister actually supplied and set it level with the finished ground — the installation sheet asks you to take the hole from the line drawings supplied, and a canister that is not level voids the warranty.
For a garden bed, yes. This is a facade and specimen-tree fitting — 1600 to 1800 lm in a 30° beam will carry to the top of a mature tree or a two-storey wall. For a shrub, a path edge or a low pier the 3 W or 5 W Toldo does the job without the glare, and costs considerably less to install because the hole is smaller.
15°, which is the tightest adjustment of the three Toldos. Remove the four nuts on the back, take off the cover and glass, ease the head over, then refit everything with the seals in place and the nuts tight. Because the range is narrow, get the fitting's position right at setting-out rather than relying on the tilt to correct it.
No. Havit records Dimmable: No on the HV1829T data sheet and on the Toldo installation instructions, and the LED is built in.
It is rated trafficable to 1000 kg, which covers foot traffic and a domestic car crossing it, provided the canister is properly bedded and level. It is not rated for trucks or for repeated turning loads.
A switch under a cap on the underside of the fitting selects 3000K, 4000K or 5500K, and it ships on 3000K. Set it before the fitting is dropped into the canister — on a fitting this size, lifting it back out afterwards is not a trivial job.
