Tilda 6 LED Downlight

The Tilda DL6 is a six-head recessed adjustable downlight bar in white — 30 W total giving 2,250 lm, with CRI above 90, three colour temperatures, TRIAC dimming and an IC-4 insulation rating.

✅ CRI above 90 — the reason to specify this over a cheaper bar

Colour rendering is how faithfully colours read under a light, and most downlights sit around CRI 80. The Tilda is above 90, and the difference is visible rather than theoretical:

• Food looks like food. Raw meat, tomatoes, greens and wine all lose their saturation under a CRI 80 source — in a kitchen that is the single most noticeable lighting fault there is.
• Skin looks right, which matters wherever people are seen — a dining table, a bathroom, an entry.
• Art, timber, fabric and paint colours read as they do in daylight. If you have chosen finishes carefully, a low-CRI downlight quietly undoes the work.

✅ Together with 75 lm/W, that puts the Tilda in a different class from the decorative fittings around it — and none of it was on the page.

✅ IC-4 — it can be covered with insulation

IC-4 means the fitting is rated to be abutted and covered by ceiling insulation. In an Australian roof space that is a real and practical thing:

• No insulation gaps. Non-IC downlights need a clear zone cut around each one, and every one of those gaps is a hole in your ceiling insulation — six of them, in this case.
• Nothing to police later. An installer topping up insulation cannot accidentally create a hazard by covering it.

It appeared nowhere on our page, and it is one of the specifications a builder or electrician actually asks for.

Six adjustable heads — what to do with them

Each head pulls out and rotates through 360°, so a single bar can be aimed rather than just switched on:

• Wall washing — aim all six at one wall, evenly spaced, and the wall becomes the light source. This makes a room feel larger than downlighting the middle of it does.
• Art and joinery — aim two or three at what you want seen, and the rest straight down. CRI 90+ is what makes this worth doing.
• Task and general together — some down onto a bench, some out into the room.
• ⚠ Aim them before the ceiling is patched and painted if you can, and check the throw at night. Adjustable heads are frequently installed and never adjusted.

✅ Real TRIAC dimming — unlike much of this catalogue

The Tilda is TRIAC dimmable: a standard leading-edge wall dimmer works, giving continuous control rather than the fixed steps that several fittings in this catalogue offer. ⚠ Tell your electrician it is TRIAC, and ask us if you want a dimmer matched to it — LED dimming is where compatibility problems live, and it is much easier to get right before installation than after.

Three colour temperatures, set at the fitting

2700 K, 3200 K or 4000 K, chosen before it goes in.

• 2700 K — warm, for bedrooms and living rooms.
• 3200 K — the middle setting, and a good compromise in an open plan where a kitchen and a living area share one ceiling. ⚠ It is missing from our own product record, which lists only 2700 K and 4000 K — the fitting has it.
• 4000 K — neutral, for kitchens, laundries and studies.

Where it works

• Kitchens — CRI 90+ is the reason.
• Living and dining areas, wall washing rather than downlighting the middle.
• Hallways, entries and over joinery or art.
• ✅ Insulated ceilings — IC-4, so insulation can cover it.
• ⚠ IP20 — not above a shower or in a wet area.

Specifying it

Recess 335 × 90 mm, 70 mm deep, lead 690 mm, 0.65 kg. In polycarbonate, white. Six adjustable heads, pull-out and 360° rotation. Integrated 30 W LED in total — 5 W per head — giving 2,250 lm, CRI >90, with 2700 K / 3200 K / 4000 K set at the fitting and TRIAC dimming — a standard leading-edge dimmer works. 240 V, Class II — double insulated, no earth, IC-4 — may be abutted and covered by insulation, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Also available as a two-head and a four-head. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
