Thorin 120Cm Linear Pendant Light

The Thorin PE120 is a 1,200 mm linear pendant in iron and wood — 28 W for 1,600 lm, three colour temperatures — in black or white.

Wood on a linear pendant, which is uncommon

Almost every linear pendant in this range is aluminium and acrylic, or iron and glass. The Thorin is iron and wood with a sand finish — and that changes what it does in a room. A metal bar reads as equipment; a timber one reads as furniture. Over a dining table, where you look at it for hours, that difference is the reason to choose it.

The size that suits an ordinary table

At 1,200 mm this is the one for a standard six-seat dining table or a normal kitchen island — the 1.8-metre version is for a long table and will overhang a short one. At 1.33 kg it is light enough that the fixing is straightforward.

Extraordinarily slim — 30 by 55 millimetres

Over 1.2 metres the section is only 30 mm wide and 55 mm deep. From the side it nearly disappears; from below it is a fine line of light. That slenderness is what keeps a linear fitting from dominating a room.

1,600 lumens is a working output

Genuinely enough to light a dining table or a bench on its own — about 57 lumens per watt, and matched proportionally by the larger version. This is not a decorative glow.

Three colour temperatures

3000, 4000 or 5000 K, selected on the fitting. Warm over a dining table, neutral over a bench, cool for a workspace — decided at installation rather than at purchase.

A frost polycarbonate diffuser

Behind the timber and iron sits a frost diffuser, which is what makes the length glow evenly rather than showing a row of LEDs.

It does not dim

One level only. The three colour temperatures are the control you have.
