Tarell LED Table Lamp

The Tarell TL is a 405 mm table lamp in antique gold or gun metal — integrated 6 W giving 530 lm at 3000 K, with a gesture-controlled switch.

88 lm/W — the most efficient decorative fitting measured in this programme so far, and no source remarked on it. For comparison, the Tequo table lamp gives 335 lm from 12 W: the Tarell produces more light on half the power.

The reason is the design. The Tarell's slim profile puts the light out rather than through smoked glass or fabric, so almost all of it reaches the desk. That makes it a genuine task and reading lamp where most decorative table lamps in this catalogue are atmosphere.

The slim profile, and the two finishes

405 mm high, 345 mm across, 160 mm base — a reach rather than a shade, which is why it puts light where you want it instead of spreading it everywhere.

• Antique gold — warm, and it sits with brass and timber. Against gold, 3000 K is the right colour; cooler light would turn it green, and the fixed 3000 K here is a good match.
• Gun metal — a dark, slightly warm grey, quieter and more technical; it disappears against a dark desk rather than announcing itself.

1.28 kg — and a note about waving at it

On a 160 mm base. That is light, and on a lamp designed to be gestured at it is worth thinking about: gesture control means your hand passes close, and the base has to hold the lamp still while it does.

In practice it is fine on a stable surface, and worth keeping back from the edge of a narrow bedside table. If it is going somewhere with real traffic, ask us about a heavier lamp.
