This is a connector to suit flexible LED strip.
⚠ It is a component on its own. There is no LED strip in it and no driver - it is one of the parts that holds, joins or terminates a strip run you already have.
This connector joins SPI strip without soldering. SPI strip carries a data line as well as power, which is what lets each section of it be addressed separately, and that data line has to be carried across a join exactly as reliably as the power is.
A soldered joint does that well when it is done well, and badly the rest of the time. On a run that has to be made on site, in a ceiling or behind joinery, a purpose-made connector is both faster and more consistent than a soldering iron held at an awkward angle.
This is the T-shape version, which splits one feed into two directions. It is what lets a run branch - around both sides of an opening, or out along two arms of a shape - from a single supply point.
Plan where the branch falls before you cut. A T taken at the wrong point means one arm is short, and strip cannot be lengthened back.
Cut the strip at a marked cutting point only. A connector needs the full contact pads to grip, and a cut taken between the marks leaves nothing for it to make contact with.
Check the polarity and the direction of the data line before closing the connector. SPI strip runs one way, and a section wired backwards will not simply be dim - it will not respond at all, which is a much harder fault to find once everything is installed.
Test the join before it disappears into a channel or behind a face panel. This is the single most common failure point in a strip installation, and the only cheap moment to find it is before it is buried.
No. It is a connector - a component. There is no LED strip or driver with it.
flexible LED strip. These parts are sized to one strip section and do not interchange.
No - that is the point of it. It clamps onto the strip instead, which is both faster and more consistent than soldering on site.
At the marked cutting points only. A cut taken between them leaves no contact pads, and nothing to connect to.
