Stylez up and down LED wall light — 12V, six finishes

The Stylez is a compact 12V up/down wall light sold in six finishes on one listing: antique brass, brass, black, white, graphite and 316 stainless steel. It carries two 3W emitters, one facing up and one facing down, and at 120mm tall it is sized for piers, entry walls, fence posts and pathways rather than for facades.

Six finishes on a single fitting is unusual and it is the reason to look at this one. Up/down wall lights are almost always specified in numbers — a run along a boundary, a pair either side of a door, a sequence up a drive — so being able to match the metal to the gate hardware, the letterbox or the window frames matters more here than on a fitting used singly.

Two emitters, 6W total

The fitting draws 6W in total from its two 3W emitters. Havit rates each at 240lm, 245lm and 250lm across the three colour settings, so the fitting delivers 480lm, 490lm and 500lm in total at 3000K, 4000K and 5500K respectively.

Each emitter throws a 120° beam, which gives a broad, soft cone rather than a tight column. On a textured pier that spreads the light across the surface instead of drawing a hard line up it — a gentler effect than a narrow-beam fitting, and usually the right one on a domestic entry.

It dims, which is unusual at this size

Havit lists the Stylez as dimmable. That is worth noting because most small low-voltage up/down fittings are not, and it opens up using the same fitting at full output for security and at a lower level for an evening. Have your electrician confirm the dimming arrangement suits the driver being used, since on a low-voltage circuit the driver is part of the dimming path.

Power and installation

The Stylez runs on 12V DC constant voltage and is a Class 3 fitting, so no earth is required at the fitting itself. A 12V driver is required on the circuit and is not supplied with the light.

It is rated IP65 for dust and jetted water and IK10 for impact — the highest impact rating in Havit's exterior range, which is worth having on a fitting mounted at knee height on a driveway pier where car doors, bikes and wheelie bins pass. Rated lamp expectancy is >30,000 hrs, the LED is built in, and installation is work for a licensed electrician.
