STOW SQUARE STAIR LIGHT 3CCT

The Stow SQ is an 83 mm square recessed stair light — 3 W, three switchable colour temperatures, into a 75 mm cut-out — in titan, white or silver.

The output changes with the colour you choose

A detail worth having, and our record does not carry it: 200 lm at 3000 K, 220 lm at 4000 K, 240 lm at 5000 K. LEDs are more efficient at cooler temperatures, so the warm setting is about 17% dimmer than the cool one. On a stair that is not a problem — but if you are calculating a run, use the figure for the setting you will actually use.

The cut-out is recorded — 75 mm square, 70 mm deep

Worth noting, because several step lights in this range publish no cut-out at all. An 83 mm fitting into a 75 mm hole, needing 70 mm of depth behind it — check that depth against a solid or shallow wall before you commit, because it is the figure that stops a job.

Only 18 mm proud

18 mm of fixture height above the wall. At foot level on a stair, a fitting that barely stands out is far less likely to be scuffed or caught.

Three colours, chosen at installation

3000 K warm, 4000 K neutral or 5000 K cool, set on the fitting rather than fixed by order code. On a stair used at night, warm disturbs dark-adapted eyes far less — which is a good reason to accept the slightly lower output.

Titan, white or silver

Titan is the unusual one — a warm grey-bronze that suits stone and timber better than plain silver does. All three in aluminium with a polycarbonate diffuser.

• Internal stair risers, one every few treads.
• Hallways, as low-level night guidance.
• Cinema rooms and stepped floors.
• ⚠ Indoors only — and check the 70 mm depth.

Specifying it

83 × 83 mm fitting, 75 × 75 mm cut-out, 70 mm depth, standing 18 mm proud, in aluminium with a polycarbonate diffuser. Built-in 3 W LED giving 200 lm (3000 K) / 220 lm (4000 K) / 240 lm (5000 K), included, switchable. Not dimmable. 240 V (220–240 V), Class III — low voltage, under 54 V, IP20 — indoor only. Warranty is three years or 25,000 hours. A round Stow is also made.
