The Stellar CTC is a 500 mm layered circular close-to-ceiling light in white — integrated 48 W giving 3,280 lm, with 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K and TRIAC dimming, projecting 68 mm.
⚠ Our sources disagree about what it is made of, and we would rather tell you than pick one.
| Source | Material |
|---|---|
| The datasheet | Iron and ACRYLIC |
| Our product record | Iron and FABRIC |
| The old specification table | Iron and FABRIC |
That is a real difference, not a technicality. An acrylic fitting is smooth, slightly glossy and needs no maintenance. A fabric one is matt and textured, warmer in a bedroom — and on a ceiling it collects dust and wants an occasional vacuum. They also look nothing alike close up.
We have asked Telbix. If the finish matters to you, ask us before you order and we will confirm which it is.
The Stellar is built from overlapping circular planes at slightly different depths rather than a single flat face. Two things follow:
48 W at 68 lm/W — enough to be the only light in a living room or a large bedroom. It sits between the two other close-to-ceiling fittings in this catalogue:
| Fitting | Size | Output | Rim |
|---|---|---|---|
| AREMA CTC | 500 mm | 2,750 lm | Acrylic |
| STELLAR CTC | 500 mm | 3,280 lm | Layered — see above |
| ASTANA CTC | 700 mm | 3,850 lm | Fabric |
All three record almost exactly the same efficacy — 68 to 69 lm/W — which tells you they are built on the same LED platform. So the choice between them is size, form and finish, not light quality. The Stellar is the brightest of the two 500 mm options, giving 19% more light than the Arema on the same footprint.
TRIAC dimming, on an ordinary wall dimmer, across the full range. At 3,280 lumens that is not a luxury — it is what lets one fitting be a working light at full and an evening one low. Note the contrast with the Thalia and Lyric oysters, which give three fixed steps from the existing switch and need no dimmer at all: better for a retrofit, less control.
3000 K warm for living rooms and bedrooms — right in most homes. 4000 K neutral for a kitchen or study. 5000 K cool, which belongs in a garage or workshop.
⚠ Decide before the electrician leaves. Our record flags the Stellar as colour changing, which overstates it — the setting is made at the fitting, at installation, and cannot be changed from a switch, an app or a remote. On a 500 mm fitting in the middle of a ceiling, changing it later means taking it down.
Genuinely low-profile for a 500 mm fitting, and the layered form is what carries visual depth at that thinness.
⚠ 4.9 kilograms sits flat against the ceiling. A close-to-ceiling mount puts the whole weight on the plate and the ceiling surface, with none of the relief a suspension gives. On plasterboard that needs a proper fixing — tell your electrician the figure before the ceiling is opened. The canopy is 395 mm on a 500 mm face, so on a replacement it covers most of what came off.
Class I — earth required, and IP20 — indoor and dry locations only, so not a bathroom. Ask us about the IP44 Lunos squares if you need one that can. CRI above 80.
500 mm across, projection 68 mm, canopy 395 mm, 4.9 kg, in iron with an acrylic or fabric face — our sources conflict; ask us, white. Integrated 48 W LED giving 3,280 lm, included, with 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K set at installation, CRI >80, and TRIAC dimming across the full range. 240 V, Class I — earth required, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.

Our sources disagree, and we would rather tell you than pick one: the datasheet says acrylic, while our record and the old page both say fabric. That is a real difference — acrylic is smooth, slightly glossy and needs no maintenance, while fabric is matt and textured, warmer in a bedroom, and collects dust on a ceiling. We have asked Telbix; ask us before ordering if the finish matters.
Same 500 mm footprint, 19% more light — 3,280 lumens against 2,750 — and a layered circular form rather than a plain face. All three close-to-ceiling fittings here record almost the same efficacy, so they are built on one LED platform: the choice is size, form and finish, not light quality.
Yes — 3,280 lumens covers a living room or a large bedroom, and the TRIAC dimming lets the same fitting be a working light at full and an evening one low.
Two things. It casts shadow on itself, so it has depth even when off and reads as a sculptural object rather than a lit panel. And the light leaves at more than one plane, so the transition from fitting to ceiling is graded rather than a hard ring — which is what makes a bright close-mounted fitting comfortable to sit under.

No. Our record flags it as colour changing, which overstates it — the setting is made at the fitting during installation, and on a 500 mm fitting in the middle of a ceiling, changing it later means taking it down.
