The Sotto is the larger submersible fitting in Havit's pond range — a 15W light in 316 stainless steel, rated IP68 for continuous immersion and IK09 for impact. It is built to be used either in water or in the ground, which is what the pond-and-garden description means in practice: the same sealed stainless body works under a water feature or buried at the base of a tree.

At 15W with a 40° beam it is a directional fitting rather than a wash. That combination is what makes it useful for uplighting: a narrow beam from below throws light up a trunk, a wall or a spill of water and holds it there, instead of spreading it across everything nearby.

Colour temperature

The Sotto is a tri-colour fitting. The colour temperature is selected on the fitting at installation rather than fixed when it is made — 3000K, 4000K or 5500K — so the same fitting suits warm planting or cool architectural stone depending on how it is set. Colour rendering is above 80 CRI, and rated lamp expectancy is >30,000 hrs.

For uplighting timber and planting, 3000K is almost always the answer; for rendered walls, pale stone and water, the cooler settings look cleaner. Set it before the fitting goes into the ground or the water, because getting back to it afterwards is the hard part.

Power and installation

The Sotto runs on 12V DC and is a Class 3 low-voltage fitting, so no earth is required at the fitting. It does require a 12V driver on the circuit, which is not part of this listing — worth checking against the capacity of an existing garden run before adding one, since a 15W fitting takes a meaningful share of a small driver.

The body measures Ø115mm and stands 148mm tall. When it is used in the ground rather than in water, set the top flush or slightly proud so the lens sheds debris rather than collecting it; a narrow-beam uplight silted over with leaf litter simply stops working. This fitting is not dimmable.

Where the Sotto earns its place

Choose it where you want one strong, directed beam from below: a specimen tree, a water blade, a feature wall, a sculpture. It is not the fitting for lighting a path or spreading light across a bed, where a wider beam does the job with less glare. Because the same body works submerged or buried, it is also a sensible choice where a landscape design is not finalised — a pond edge that later becomes a garden bed does not need a different fitting.
