Product Description
xThe Sorens TL17 is a bamboo-shaded table lamp on an iron base in brown or natural — 290 mm tall, taking one E27 globe to 25 W, with a 1.8 m cord and a plug.
⚠ It plugs in. Our old page ended by saying this fitting must be installed by a licensed electrician. It does not need one.
⚠ This is the “small”, and it is the taller of the two
- TL17 — the “small”: 290 mm high, 0.7 kg.
- TL20 — the “large”: 230 mm high, 0.7 kg.
The likeliest reading is that 17 and 20 are shade diameters in centimetres, so the names describe width: this one is the narrower, taller lamp and the “large” is the wider, lower one. On a bedside table the taller, narrower shape is usually the better fit — it takes less surface and puts the shade closer to where you want the light.

What a bamboo shade actually does
- Light passes through the weave, so the shade glows and throws a fine textured pattern onto the wall behind it — a fabric shade diffuses, a woven one patterns.
- It warms the light on the way through, so even a neutral globe reads golden.
- ⚠ It is not a reading lamp — a woven shade leaks light in every direction rather than aiming it down.

Questions
Do I need an electrician?
No. It has a 1,800 mm cord and a plug. Our old page ended by saying a licensed electrician was required, which was wrong for this product.
Why is the "small" taller than the "large"?
It is: the TL17 small is 290 mm high and the TL20 large is 230 mm, and both weigh 0.7 kg. The likeliest explanation is that 17 and 20 are shade diameters in centimetres, so the names describe width — this is the narrower, taller lamp. No width is recorded in any source, so that is our reading rather than a quoted figure.
Which of the two suits a bedside table?
Usually this one. The taller, narrower shape takes less of the surface and puts the shade closer to where you want the light; the TL20 is the wider, lower lamp and suits a console or a shelf.
Does it come with a globe?

Not really. A woven shade leaks light in every direction rather than aiming it down, so it lights the room and the wall behind it rather than putting a pool of light on a page.

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.
Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.
Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.
Damaged or Missing Items
Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.
If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.
Returns
Change of Mind Returns
- Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
- The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Our Rights
We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.
Cancellations
Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
