Product Description
xThe Domus SOLAR is a surface-mounted LED ceiling light in black or white — round in 200, 300 or 400 mm or square in 300 or 400 mm, IP54, with switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5700 K.
✅ Surface mounted — no hole in the ceiling. That is the reason to choose an oyster over downlights, and it matters more than it sounds:
- Concrete ceilings and slabs — nothing to core.
- No ceiling void — apartments, second storeys, rendered soffits.
- Insulation stays continuous — nothing is cut, so nothing has to be cleared around it.
- One fitting instead of four or five downlights in a bathroom, laundry, hallway or small bedroom — less installation, fewer holes, one thing to clean.
Choosing a size — and being honest about the figures we hold
The 200 mm is 15 W giving 1,350–1,450 lm depending on the colour setting. The larger sizes are 25 W and 35 W.
⚠ We do not hold the lumen figures for the 300 mm and 400 mm, and we are not going to scale the 200 mm number by wattage — efficacy does not hold constant across a range. Ask us and we will get them from Domus.
- 200 mm (15 W) — a bathroom, a laundry, a hallway, a small bedroom, a walk-in robe.
- 300 mm (25 W) — a standard bedroom or a small living room.
- 400 mm (35 W) — a larger living space, or a room where an oyster is doing all the work.
Round or square — and one thing to notice
- Round is available in all three sizes.
- ⚠ Square is only offered in 300 and 400 mm — there is no 200 mm square. If you are matching square fittings through a house, the smallest rooms will have to take a round one or a larger square.
✅ Square reads as deliberate and lines up with square vents, skylights and joinery; round is the quieter default and is more forgiving if the fitting is not perfectly centred.
✅ IP54 and polycarbonate — the combination that suits a coast
Domus are specific about this: the SOLAR is “constructed from polycarbonate and rated at IP54, making it ideal for usage in damp locations and in dwellings located close to coastal areas”.
- IP54 — dust protected and splash resistant. Bathrooms outside the shower zone, laundries, and covered outdoor ceilings, subject to your electrician and AS/NZS 3000.
- Polycarbonate cannot corrode, which is why it is named for coastal use where a metal-bodied fitting eventually fails at the coating edges.
⚠ How far does it hang down?
On a surface-mounted fitting this is the figure that matters, and our record makes a mess of it — the height field holds five values for a three-size range, one of which (400 mm) is plainly a diameter that has landed in the wrong place.
What we can say is that the range sits in the 40–51 mm band, which is slim for an oyster. If the exact projection matters — a low ceiling, a door swing, a robe — ask us and we will confirm the figure for your size.
Dimming, and the qualifier
Dimmable — but the datasheet says “tested on the Domus dimmer series; may work on others but not tested”, which is materially weaker than “dimmable”. ✅ Tell us the dimmer you intend to use before ordering and we will tell you whether it is a tested pairing.
120° beam for uniform output, CRI ≥80, 40,000 hours, driver included. The colour is set on a dip switch at the back, before installation — and the top setting is 5700 K, colder than the 5000 K many people expect. Warranty 3 years.

Questions
Why choose an oyster over downlights?
No hole in the ceiling. That matters on a concrete slab where you would otherwise core, in an apartment or second storey with no void, and in a rated or insulated ceiling that should stay unbroken. It is also one fitting instead of four or five downlights in a bathroom, laundry, hallway or small bedroom — less installation, fewer holes, one thing to clean.
How bright are the 300mm and 400mm?

Is it suitable for a bathroom or a coastal house?
Yes to both, and Domus name it specifically: polycarbonate construction and an IP54 rating make it suited to damp locations and dwellings close to the coast. Polycarbonate cannot corrode, where a metal-bodied fitting eventually fails at the coating edges. Your electrician still sites it to the zones in AS/NZS 3000.
Which dimmer works with it?

Warranties, Return & Refund Policy

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.
Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.
Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.
Damaged or Missing Items
Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.
If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.
Returns
Change of Mind Returns
- Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
- The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Our Rights
We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.
Cancellations
Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
