Ryland Exterior LED Wall Light

The Ryland EX2 is a 300 mm exterior up-down wall light in black, brass or rust — two light sources, 4 W total giving 180 lm at 3000 K, IP54.

What an up-down actually does to a wall

A single downward light puts a half-moon of light on the ground and leaves the wall above it dark. An up-down puts two triangles of light on the wall itself — one spreading up, one spreading down — so the wall becomes the lit thing. On render, brick, stone or timber cladding that grazing light reveals the texture of the surface, which is why up-downs are the standard choice on a facade you want to look at rather than merely see.

Repeated along a wall at even spacing, the effect is architectural: a rhythm of paired triangles. One on its own beside a door does far less.

180 lumens across two apertures

4 W total, so roughly 90 lumens each way. This is emphatically an accent — it lights the wall, not the path, not the doorstep, and not the driveway. Plan a separate light for anything you need to see by. Used as intended, in a run, that restraint is correct: bright up-downs on a facade glare from the street and flatten the very texture they are meant to reveal.

300 by 50 mm — a thin vertical

300 mm tall, 50 mm wide, projecting 80 mm, at 0.7 kg. A six-to-one line, so the fitting itself is nearly invisible against a wall by day and the light does the work by night.

Three finishes, and two of them are the interesting ones

Black, brass and rust, all sand-finished so they do not show salt or water marks. Brass is unusual outside and warms as it weathers; rust reads as weathered steel and sits naturally against brick, timber and earth-toned render. Both are far better at disappearing into a textured facade than black, which on pale render reads as a stripe.

Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
