The Rilto SP3 is a 24 V garden spike spotlight in black, green or corten — 3 W giving 180 lm at 3000 K, IP65, and CRI above 95.

180 lumens — correctly sized for a garden

Small, and deliberately. A garden spike is aimed at one thing — a tree trunk, a shrub, a wall, a sculpture — and 180 lm concentrated on a single subject is plenty. Brighter spikes wash out the dark that makes garden lighting work, and they glare from the neighbour's side of the fence. The Rilto is a picking-out light, and it should be used in numbers rather than in strength.

Corten — the finish worth knowing about

Three finishes: black, green and corten. Corten is the weathered rust look — and in a garden it does something the others cannot: it disappears into mulch, bark and soil completely by day, so the fitting vanishes and only the light remains. Green does the same job in dense planting. Black is the safe choice against paving, walls and structure.

Low voltage is why it is a good garden fitting

Class III, under 54 V. The 240 V side stops at the transformer, so the cable running through your garden beds is low voltage — which is far safer around spades, edging and roots than a mains circuit, and much easier to extend or re-position later when the planting changes. A licensed electrician wires the transformer; moving a spike afterwards does not need one.

IP65 — a genuinely exposed rating

Dust-tight and rated against water jets from any direction, so it handles sprinklers, driving rain and hosing down. That is what a fitting sitting at ground level in a garden bed actually meets, and it is a higher rating than most wall lights in this range carry.

Two heights are recorded, and they mean different things

Our sources give 55 mm and 265 mm. Both are credible on a spike light: 55 mm is the head, and 265 mm is the whole thing including the spike. So expect a 30 mm-wide head sitting on a spike that puts roughly 200 mm into the ground. The cable is 1 metre, which is what determines how far the nearest joiner can be.
