Reces round recessed LED step light — five finishes

A small round recessed step light, sold in antique brass, black, brass, 316 stainless steel and white. It sets into a riser, a wall or a paver so the face finishes flush, lighting the tread in front of it without any part of the fitting standing proud to be caught by a shoe.

Five finishes on a fitting this small is unusual and it is the reason to look here first. Step lights are installed in runs, and a run of fittings that matches the balustrade, the tapware or the door hardware reads as part of the build rather than as lighting added afterwards.

Output and beam

The fitting draws 2.5W and is tri-colour, with 3000K, 4000K or 5500K selected on the fitting at installation rather than fixed at manufacture. Colour rendering is above 80 CRI.

The beam is 40°, which is deliberately tight for a step light. A narrow beam puts light on the tread and keeps it out of the eyeline of someone coming up the stairs — the opposite of what a wide-beam fitting at shin height does. Havit lists the fitting as dimmable.

Two cutouts, depending on the canister

⚠ The cutout depends on how it is installed. With the canister, the cutout is Ø76mm; without the canister it is Ø60mm.

Decide which before anything is cut. The canister is what makes a clean installation in masonry or concrete, where it is set before the render or the pour and the fitting drops in afterwards. Going without is only appropriate where the cavity behind is already suitable. Getting this wrong means a hole that is either too large to hide or too small to take the fitting.

Power and installation

The Reces runs on 12V DC and is a Class 3 low-voltage fitting, so no earth is required at the fitting. A 12V driver is required on the circuit and is not part of this listing — worth sizing for the whole run, since step lights are rarely installed singly.

It is rated IK10 for impact, the highest rating in Havit's range, which is what a fitting set into a stair riser needs. Rated lamp expectancy is >30,000 hrs and the LED is built in. Installation is work for a licensed electrician.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
