Rana 40Cm Table Lamp Medium

The Rana TL40 is a hand-woven rattan table lamp with a teardrop shade in black, brown or natural — a 400 mm shade on a 555 mm-tall lamp, taking one E27 globe to 25 W, with a 1.8 m cord and plug.

Medium against small — the difference is width, not height

• TL40 — medium: 400 mm shade, 555 mm high, 1.8 kg.
• TL30 — small: 300 mm shade, 505 mm high, 1.65 kg.

Only 50 mm of height separates them, against 100 mm of width. So the medium is not a taller lamp — it is a broader, more generous one, and it takes noticeably more of a table. ✅ The upside of the wider shade is a bigger shadow pattern thrown further, which is the reason to choose it if you have the surface for it.

What the woven shade does — this is the whole point

• The rattan is woven, not solid, so light escapes through hundreds of gaps and throws a pattern across the ceiling, the wall and the table.
• The teardrop shape throws it upward and outward as well as down, so it works best with a wall or ceiling close enough to catch it. Marooned in the middle of a large room, most of the effect is lost.
• ⚠ Not a reading lamp. It lights the room, not the page.

The globe decides how dramatic it is

One E27 (large screw) globe to 25 W, none supplied — which our old page did not say.

• Clear filament — a small bright point source, so the pattern lands sharp and graphic. The dramatic choice, and what the lamp is for.
• Frosted or opal — a softer source, so the pattern lands diffuse and gentle. Better in a bedroom.
• Warm 2700 K either way — rattan is a honey-coloured material and a cool globe makes it look grey.
• ⚠ Dimming is globe dependent — there is no dimmer in the lamp.

One E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied; dimming is globe dependent. 240 V, Class II — double insulated, no earth, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. No electrician needed. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
