It hangs on chain, on rod, or on both — and our page was cut off mid-word saying so (“a combination of b—”). Outdoors that is a wind decision:

• Chain is the traditional look and lets the lantern move — charming under a sheltered porch, restless in an exposed position, where it swings, wears the flex over years and can knock against a post.
• Rod holds it rigid and still: the right answer anywhere that catches wind, and anywhere a swinging fitting would sit at head height.
• Both makes up an exact drop when neither alone gives the height.

Tell us the position and the ceiling height and we will specify it.

⚠ If you are comparing the Ramiro with the Pedral, they are very close. Both are traditional coach lanterns in aluminium and textured glass, both IP44, both take one E27 to 25 W, both come in black or bronze, both offer chain, rod or both on a 1,750 mm suspension, and both are made as pendants and wall lanterns.

The differences are size and proportion:

This Ramiro is the tallest of the four at 420 mm — 80 mm taller than the largest Pedral on a similar width, so it is the most elongated and the most imposing. Over a front door with height above it, that is the one that reads. Ask us and we will send both dimensions against your opening.

⚠ No weight is recorded for either Ramiro pendant. On a 1,750 mm drop outdoors, where the fitting may move in wind, that is the figure your electrician needs. Ask us before the fixing is chosen — especially on this, the largest of the four lanterns.

Textured glass scatters rather than hides, so the globe still shows, softened and broken up:

• A decorative LED filament — globe or ST64 — reads as a warm glowing core, which is what a coach lantern is designed around.
• A bare white capsule shows as a hard bright blob.
• Rated for ENCLOSED fittings — it is a sealed lantern, and heat with nowhere to go is what kills LED globes.
• Warm 2700 K, or it looks like a security light.

And it dims, with the right globe. Our record says “No”; the datasheet and page both say globe dependent, and they are right. Over an outdoor table that is worth having.

IP44 — covered positions only, and our page has it right at “Outdoor (Covered Area)”: splashing water from any direction, not driving rain or jets. An open-sided verandah that takes rain sideways is not the place for it. For exposed or coastal positions, ask us about the Walsh at IP65 in solid brass or 316 stainless.
