The Ramiro EX25 is a 250 mm traditional coach lantern in black or bronze with textured glass — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied, IP44, projecting 350 mm.
⚠ It stands 350 millimetres off the wall. That is the first thing to plan around.
| Wall light | Projection |
|---|---|
| RAMIRO EX25 | 350 mm |
| Ramiro EX20 | 280 mm |
| Pedral EX23 | 280 mm |
| Farnix WB (indoor) | 254 mm |
| Cosca EX180 | 170 mm |
| Mazal WB (indoor) | 75 mm |
Thirty-five centimetres is the deepest reach we have measured on any wall light, and on a coach lantern that reach is the point: it holds the light out over a doorway or a path rather than flat against the wall. But it means:
⚠ And the fixing takes leverage, not just weight. 4.2 kg on a 350 mm reach is the largest turning moment on any wall fitting in this catalogue. A flat 4 kg fitting pulls down on its fixings; this one pulls down and out, and the top fixings take the load. Tell your electrician both figures — the weight and the projection — and on render or lightweight cladding, ask about a backing plate.
Every lantern in the Ramiro and Pedral ranges takes the same single E27 to 25 W. The 250 mm gives no more light than the 200 mm — the lantern simply grows. Choose it because 250 mm and 550 mm high is the proportion the entry needs. For more light, use two lanterns or a brighter globe.
The two ranges are near-identical — same aluminium and textured glass, same IP44, same E27 25 W globe, same black or bronze, both made as pendants and wall lanterns. With the wall lights now measured, there is a consistent difference:
| Wall lantern | Width | Height | Projection | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RAMIRO EX25 | 250 mm | 550 mm | 350 mm | 4.2 kg |
| Pedral EX23 | 230 mm | 540 mm | 280 mm | 3.5 kg |
| Ramiro EX20 | 200 mm | 400 mm | 280 mm | 2.8 kg |
| Pedral EX18 | 180 mm | 490 mm | 230 mm | 2.5 kg |
At every size, the Ramiro is deeper and heavier than the Pedral. So: Ramiro for reach and presence, where the wall is open and the lantern is meant to project over a door; Pedral where space is tighter. Ask us and we will send both against your opening.
Textured glass scatters rather than hiding: you see a softened, distorted form of the globe. So the globe matters, and no source said so:
And it dims, with the right globe — neither our record nor the page's specification table mentioned dimming at all. The datasheet says globe dependent, which is right. On a lantern with a visible warm core, dimming is the best thing you can do for how it looks after dark.
Nearly every outdoor light in this range has a sealed integrated LED: when the diode fails, the fitting is finished. The Ramiro takes a standard E27, so you choose the output and colour and can replace it in ten years — on a traditional lantern meant to sit beside a door for decades, that is a real advantage.
IP44 — covered positions, and our page has it right at “Outdoor (Covered Area)”: splashing water from any direction, not driving rain or jets. Under a porch, verandah or deep eave — yes; fully exposed or coastal — no. For those, ask us about the Walsh at IP65 in solid brass or 316 stainless.
Backplate 135 mm on a 250 mm fitting — on a replacement, it may not cover the marks. Class I — earth required, in aluminium and textured glass.
A note: our page carried the Ramiro pendant's multi-suspension paragraph — chain, rod or both. That describes the hanging version, not this wall light.
250 mm wide by 550 mm high, projection 350 mm, backplate 135 mm, 4.2 kg, in aluminium and textured glass, black or bronze. One E27 globe to 25 W, NOT supplied, replaceable; dimming is globe dependent. 240 V, Class I — earth required, IP44 — covered outdoor positions. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
350 mm — the deepest reach we have measured on any wall light, where the Pedral EX23 is 280 mm and the Cosca 170. On a coach lantern that reach is the point, holding the light out over a doorway, but check it clears the door swing and architrave, and do not mount it at head height along a path.
A substantial one, and warn your electrician about the leverage rather than just the weight. 4.2 kg on a 350 mm reach is the largest turning moment on any wall fitting in this catalogue — a flat fitting pulls down on its fixings, this one pulls down and out, and the top fixings take the load. On render or lightweight cladding, ask about a backing plate.
With the wall lights now measured there is a consistent difference: at every size the Ramiro is deeper and heavier. So Ramiro for reach and presence, where the wall is open and the lantern is meant to project over a door; Pedral where space is tighter. Everything else — materials, IP44, the E27 globe, the finishes — is the same. Ask us and we will send both against your opening.
No — every Ramiro and Pedral lantern takes the same single E27 to 25 W. The lantern grows; the light does not. For more light, use two lanterns or a brighter globe.
A decorative LED filament — globe or ST64 — rated for enclosed fittings, in warm 2700 K. The textured glass scatters rather than hides, so a bare white capsule shows as a hard bright blob. Enclosed-rating matters because this is a sealed lantern and heat with nowhere to go kills LED globes.
Yes, with a dimmable globe — and neither our record nor the page’s table mentioned dimming at all, though the datasheet has it as globe dependent. On a lantern with a visible warm core, dimming is the best thing you can do for how it looks after dark.
No — IP44 is splashing water, not driving rain or jets, so under a porch, verandah or deep eave only. For exposed or coastal positions ask us about the Walsh at IP65 in solid brass or 316 stainless.
