Poetix Table Lamp

The Poetix TL is a 640 mm table lamp with stacked-sphere detailing and a 300 mm ivory shade — glossy beige or matt gold — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied, on 1.8 metres of flex.

Stacked spheres — and at table height you see them properly

The stem is built from stacked spheres, and on a table lamp that detail is at arm's reach and eye level — far more visible than it is on the 1.57-metre floor lamp, where it sits below the sightline.

The two finishes act on that shape differently:

• Glossy beige — reflective, so every sphere carries a bright highlight and the stack reads as a line of them. Polished and glamorous, and it moves as you move.
• Matt gold — no highlights, so the spheres read as form and shadow. Warmer and quieter, and closer to a sculptural object.

Our specification table recorded only “Gloss”, which loses half the choice.

640 mm tall — and that is taller than most

On a 175 mm base only 22 mm thick, at 1.98 kg. At 640 mm the Poetix is tall for a table lamp — the Nord is 440 mm and the Hommer 550 — so the shade sits well above a seated eye line and the light comes down onto the page rather than across it.

That suits a console, a sideboard or a wide bedside table. On a low bedside table it will be tall relative to the furniture.

The 300 mm shade

Opaque ivory fabric, so light goes up and down, not sideways, the globe is completely hidden, and you get a defined pool below with a wash on the ceiling. Wide relative to the 175 mm base, which gives the lamp its generous silhouette and means it spreads more light than its footprint suggests.

Part of a four-piece range

Poetix comes as this table lamp, a floor lamp and two pendant sizes, all with the same stacked spheres and ivory shades — and the floor lamp uses a 350 mm shade to this one's 300, so a pair reads as the same idea at two scales rather than two different objects.

One E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied; dimming is globe dependent and needs an inline or plug-in dimmer. 240 V, plug-in — no electrician required, Class II — double insulated, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
