The Pedral EX18 is a 180 mm traditional coach lantern in black or bronze with textured glass — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied, IP44, projecting 230 mm.
This is the size to choose in a tight position — and it gives exactly the same light. Both Pedral wall lights take the same single E27 to 25 W, so the 180 mm is not the dimmer option. It is the same lantern, smaller:
| Width | Projection | Weight | Light | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EX18 | 180 mm | 230 mm | 2.5 kg | Identical |
| EX23 | 230 mm | 280 mm | 3.5 kg | Identical |
50 mm less reach and a whole kilogram less weight, for the same output. On a narrow entry, beside a door with a tight architrave, or along a path, that is the version you want.
⚠ It still projects 230 mm, which is more than most wall lights in this catalogue — the Cosca is 170, the Mazal 75. That reach is what a coach lantern is for, but along a path or a passage it is something you can walk into in the dark. Mount it above head height in a circulation route, and check the door swing beside an entry.
Textured glass breaks up and scatters the source: you see a softened, distorted shape of the globe, not a sharp filament and not nothing at all. It sits between the Provo, whose clear glass exposes the globe entirely, and the Gorem, whose opal sphere hides it.
So the globe still matters, and no source gave any guidance. One E27 to 25 W, not supplied:
Ask us and we will match one.
Nearly every outdoor light in this range has a sealed integrated LED — when the diode fails, the fitting is finished. The Pedral takes a standard E27, so you choose the output and colour and can replace it in ten years.
And it dims, with the right globe. Our record says “No”; the datasheet and our page both say globe dependent, and they are right. On a lantern with a visible warm core, dimming is the single best thing you can do for how it looks after dark.
IP44 — covered positions, and our page has this right at “Outdoor (Covered Area)”: splashing water from any direction, not driving rain or jets. Under a porch, verandah or deep eave — yes; fully exposed or coastal — no. For those, ask us about the Walsh at IP65 in solid brass or 316 stainless.
Backplate 110 mm on a 180 mm fitting — on a replacement, measure the marks first. Class I — earth required, in aluminium and glass.
180 mm wide by 490 mm high, projection 230 mm, backplate 110 mm, 2.5 kg, in aluminium and textured glass, black or bronze. One E27 globe to 25 W, NOT supplied, replaceable; dimming is globe dependent. 240 V, Class I — earth required, IP44 — covered outdoor positions. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
No — both Pedral wall lights take the same single E27 to 25 W, so the light is identical. This is the same lantern, smaller: 50 mm less reach and a whole kilogram less weight, for the same output. Choose on proportion and position.
230 mm — still more than most wall lights in this catalogue, where the Cosca is 170 and the Mazal 75. That reach is what a coach lantern is for, but along a path or passage it is something you can walk into in the dark. A decorative LED filament — globe or ST64 shape — rated for enclosed fittings, in warm 2700 K. The textured glass softens and distorts the source rather than hiding it, so a bare white capsule shows as a hard bright blob. Enclosed-rating matters because this is a sealed lantern.
Yes, with a dimmable globe. Our record says “No”; the datasheet and our page both say globe dependent, and they are right. On a lantern with a visible warm core it is the single best thing you can do for how it looks after dark.
No — IP44 is splashing water from any direction, not driving rain or jets, so under a porch, verandah or deep eave only. For exposed or coastal positions ask us about the Walsh at IP65.
No — one E27 to 25 W, your choice and replaceable. That is an advantage: nearly every other outdoor light in this range has a sealed integrated LED, and when the diode fails the fitting is finished.
Possibly not — the backplate is 110 mm on a 180 mm fitting. Measure first.
