The Ovale is a surface-mounted indoor wall light built around a single 7 W built-in LED behind a polycarbonate diffuser, on an aluminium body that wires straight to 240 V mains. It is a wash rather than a spot: the 120° spread lays light along a wall instead of putting a pool of it on one object, which is what makes it a hallway, stairwell and bedside fitting rather than a picture light.
This is the one thing worth knowing before ordering. The Ovale is a tri-colour fitting offering 3000K, 4000K and 5500K, and it leaves the factory preset to 3000K. Changing that is not done from a wall switch or an app — Havit’s install sheet puts a small slide switch inside the fitting, reached only by loosening the allen screws on the side of the body and sliding the fitting back off its mounting bracket.
That is a two-minute job on a bench and a much less pleasant one on a mounted light at head height. Settle the colour temperature when you settle the position, and tell whoever is installing it — the default is warm, and nobody looks for that switch unless they are asked to.
The Ovale produces 400 lm at 3000K, 420 lm at 4000K and 410 lm at 5500K. The peak is in the middle, not at the coolest setting, so the common assumption that a cooler tri-colour setting is a brighter one is not true here. The three sit within about 5% of each other in any case — below what an eye reads as a difference — so the choice is about the character of the light, not the quantity. Colour rendering is quoted above CRI 80.
The Ovale is Triac dimmable, so a conventional leading-edge wall dimmer controls it and the dimming lives where people expect to find it. Havit names the HV9625 LED Dimmer, rated to 300 W, as the compatible accessory on this fitting’s own data sheet, and we stock it. Worth flagging if you are specifying several indoor wall lights at once: some ranges build the dimming into the light and ignore a wall dimmer entirely, so the method does not reliably carry across a schedule.
The rating is IP20. That means indoor, dry locations only: not a bathroom zone, not a covered patio or alfresco, and not any position that can catch driving rain or hose spray. If weather can reach it, this is the wrong fitting and a weather-rated exterior wall light is what is needed — ask us and we will point you at one. Impact resistance is IK08, a useful margin in a stairwell or corridor where a fitting gets knocked.
The Ovale is a Class 1 fitting and requires an earth. It runs on 240 V AC, so there is no driver, no transformer and no globe to buy or source later — the LED is built in and is not replaceable. Installation is a licensed electrician’s job under AS/NZS 3000: the bracket comes off the body by loosening the allen screws and is fixed to the wall first, and the install sheet asks for the earth to be connected before live and neutral. Modifying the fitting voids the warranty.
Havit gives the dimensions as a drawing on the data sheet rather than as a labelled table, so instead of guessing which figure is the projection from the wall, check that drawing against your position before ordering. Projection decides whether a wall light clears a door swing, a bedhead or a stair handrail, and it is the measurement that gets a fitting returned.
Four finishes at one price, with identical output and identical everything else: black (HV8080T-BLK), white (HV8080T-WHT), and the two-tone black-and-brass (HV8080T-BLKBR) and white-and-brass (HV8080T-WHTBR). The body is aluminium in all four — the brass is part of the colourway, not a separate solid-brass component — so the decision is purely how the fitting should read against the wall. All four carry a three-year replacement warranty.
Lights For You reaches for the Ovale when a corridor or stairwell needs light on the walls rather than a fitting to look at, and we are happy to work through whether a 120° wash suits the position you have in mind.
Yes. The Ovale is Triac dimmable, so a conventional leading-edge wall dimmer controls it. Havit names the HV9625 LED Dimmer, rated to 300 W, as the compatible accessory on this fitting’s own data sheet, and we stock it. Do not assume that carries across a whole schedule — some indoor ranges build the dimming into the light instead.
There is a small slide switch inside the fitting. Reaching it means loosening the allen screws and sliding the fitting off its bracket, so it is far easier to set before the light goes up. It arrives preset to 3000K; the other settings are 4000K and 5500K.
None of them. The 7 W LED is built in and is not replaceable, and it runs directly on 240 V mains, so there is nothing else to buy and no lamp to source later.
No. It is rated IP20 — indoor, dry locations only. A bathroom zone, a covered patio or any position exposed to driving rain needs a weather-rated fitting instead. Ask us and we will point you at one.
The 4000K setting, at 420 lm. It is 400 lm at 3000K and 410 lm at 5500K, so output peaks in the middle rather than at the coolest setting — and the whole spread is about 5%, which the eye will not read as a brightness difference. Choose the one you like the look of.
Havit publishes the dimensions as a drawing rather than a labelled table, so we do not quote a projection figure we cannot attribute to a named axis. The drawing is in the data sheet on this page — check it against your position before ordering, because projection decides whether a wall light clears a door or a bedhead.
