Product Description
xThe Orlin OY30 is a 300 mm oyster ceiling light with a walnut-toned wood rim — 12 W giving 640 lm, with switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 6000 K and three-step dimming from the wall switch you already have.
It dims from an ordinary wall switch. No dimmer, no new wiring. This is what our page was cut off before explaining, and it is the best thing about the Orlin. Flick the switch off and straight back on and the light steps down:
- First on — 100%
- Off and on again — 50%
- Again — 20%
Then back to full. Our record says only “Dimmable: Yes”, which sounds like it needs a dimmer. It does not. For a retrofit — replacing an old oyster in a hallway, a robe or a small bedroom — that means dimming without touching the switch plate, the wiring or the wall.
Small, and correctly sized for what it is
300 mm across, at 0.6 kg — the smallest of three Orlins, and light enough for any ceiling fixing.
640 lm is a modest output, and it suits the size: this is a fitting for a hallway, a walk-in robe, a laundry, a small bedroom, a landing or a porch. It will not light a living room — the 420 mm Orlin gives 1,270 lm and is the one for a larger space.
Three colour temperatures, and this one reaches daylight
3000 K, 4000 K, 6000 K, set on a slide switch at installation. None of them appear in our record, which carries a colour-changing flag and no temperatures at all.
The 6000 K is worth noting: most switchable fittings in this catalogue stop at 4000 K. True daylight in a walk-in robe is exactly what you want when choosing clothes — it is the setting where navy and black stop looking the same. In a hallway, 3000 K is the one.
The wood rim — and what it costs
A walnut-toned wood rim around a polycarbonate diffuser on a metal body. It is why you would choose an Orlin over the white plastic oyster it replaces: it reads warm even when the light is off, which matters on something that sits in the middle of a ceiling all day.
⚠ 640 lm from 12 W is 53 lm/W, which is low for an oyster — the Eltz at the same class of fitting gives 118. The rim and the diffuser absorb the difference. That is the trade, and it is a fair one if you want the look — but size the fitting on the 640 lm, not on the 12 watts.
The 420 mm Orlin runs at the same 53 lm/W, which confirms the figure across the family.
Class I — earth required, CRI above 80, and IP20 — indoor and dry locations only, so not in a bathroom. A licensed electrician installs it.

Questions
Do I need a dimmer to dim it?
No. Flick your ordinary wall switch off and straight back on and the light steps down: 100%, then 50%, then 20%, then back to full. No dimmer, no new wiring, no change to the switch plate. Our record said only “Dimmable: Yes”, which makes it sound like it needs one.
Is 640 lumens enough?

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.
Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.
Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.
Damaged or Missing Items
Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.
If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.
Returns
Change of Mind Returns
- Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
- The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations
Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
