A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Ollo is a small round recessed uplighter that Havit rates for the ground or a wall, built on a 316 stainless steel body and offered here in six faces: poly powder-coated black, 316 stainless steel, solid copper, solid brass, brass with an antique finish and brass with a graphite finish. It is IP65, trafficable to 500 kg, and it runs on 12 V DC only.
⚠ This is the honest difference between the finishes, and it is Havit's own wording rather than ours: solid brass and solid copper will naturally tarnish, and the coated brass faces — antique brass and graphite — may tarnish through the coating outdoors. That is a living finish, not a fault, and it is why those faces cost more than the black and stainless ones. If you want a face that stays as it arrived, take the black or the 316 stainless. ⚠ Havit also asks that gloves are worn when handling the brass faces, so skin oils do not mark them during installation.
Every finish is the same fitting electrically: an MR16 lamp base with a 5 W tri-colour MR16 LED globe supplied. That globe gives 270 lm at 3000K, 285 lm at 4000K and 300 lm at 5500K through a 120° beam at CRI >80. Havit's ceiling is 20 W MR16 and the published lamp expectancy is >30,000hrs. ⚠ Havit records the Ollo as not dimmable. The colour temperature is preset to 3000K and changed by twisting the cover off anti-clockwise, removing the globe and moving the switch on its side — so set it before the fitting goes into the ground. If you want to soften the glare from a low angle, the HV190-HC honeycomb lens drops in behind the glass.
The Ollo is 12 V DC and Protection Class III — low voltage, no earth required. It must be run from a suitable 12 V DC LED driver, and ⛔ it must not be connected directly to 240 V. Fittings run in parallel and the supply reaching each one must stay within ±5% of rated, or the warranty is void.
Havit's drawing gives the cutout as Ø87 mm with the canister and Ø63 mm without, with a Ø92 mm face and a 125 mm canister. ⛔ Drainage is a warranty condition: a 100 mm space below the canister and 100–150 mm of crushed rock beneath that. The canister must finish level with the wall or ground or the warranty is void; joins are soldered and covered watertight; every o-ring and seal must be in place; and silicone is run around the edge of the fitting. ⚠ Tea staining on 316 stainless is not covered by the warranty, so whichever face you choose, the stainless body and any stainless face need regular cleaning. The warranty is 3 Years Replacement.
Six finishes is a lot of choice for one fitting, and the right one usually comes down to what the face sits next to. Ask Lights For You for a recommendation with your paving or cladding in mind before you order a whole run.
Two things — the material and the price. Black and 316 stainless are coated or bare stainless faces on a stainless body. Solid copper, solid brass, antique brass and graphite are solid metal faces and cost more. ⚠ Havit states that solid brass and copper will naturally tarnish and that the antique brass and graphite coatings may tarnish through outdoors. Electrically all six are identical.
Yes — a 12 V DC LED driver. The Ollo is a low-voltage fitting, Class III with no earth required, and ⛔ it must never be wired directly to 240 V. Size the driver for the whole run rather than one fitting, and keep the voltage at each fitting within ±5% of rated or the warranty is void.
Havit rates the Ollo trafficable to 500 kg — foot traffic and light loads. ⚠ It is a smaller and lower-rated fitting than Havit's larger inground uplighters, so check the load before putting it anywhere a vehicle will cross.
Ø87 mm with the canister and Ø63 mm without, with a Ø92 mm face and a 125 mm canister depth. ⚠ Allow for drainage under it as well — a 100 mm space and 100–150 mm of crushed rock.
⚠ Havit records the Ollo as not dimmable. Because the MR16 base is replaceable, that is a statement about the fitting as supplied — if a dimmed circuit matters to you, tell us the driver, globe and dimmer you have in mind and we will check the combination rather than guess at it.
Yes. Havit specifies the Ollo as wall or inground, recessed, and the canister and cutout are the same either way. ⚠ In a wall the drainage requirement still applies to any installation where water can collect behind the fitting, and the canister must finish flush with the wall face.
