The Odin is the mid-height lantern in Havit’s galvanised-iron range, standing 345 mm against the Felix’s 300 mm and carrying a broader body with it. That extra height is the whole point of choosing it: on a wide entry wall or either side of a double door, the smaller lanterns can look under-scaled, and this one holds the space.
It ships with an 8 W E27 LED filament globe producing 700 lumens of 2700K warm white across a 120° spread — the same lamp platform as the Felix and Micah, so a house using more than one of these shapes will light evenly rather than in patches. The glass sides mean the source is visible as a filament rather than hidden behind a diffuser, which is the look the range is built around.
The globe unscrews. Havit lists the same lamp in 4000K and 5500K, so the colour of the light is a later decision rather than a permanent one, and the ceiling on any replacement is 60 W.
Havit’s data sheet is explicit: this fitting is not suitable for installation in coastal areas or environments exposed to salt water. There is no distance qualifier in that clause — it is not a matter of keeping a set distance inland, but a blanket exclusion, and it exists because galvanised iron protects steel with a zinc layer that salt air strips. Near the sea, specify 316 stainless steel or solid brass instead and accept the higher price; it is cheaper than replacing a rusted lantern in three summers.
Away from salt, the limit is ordinary weather. IP44 is a splash rating, so the Odin belongs under an eave, a verandah or a porch roof. IK02 impact resistance says the same thing about knocks — this is a domestic entry fitting, not a public-corridor one.
It is Triac dimmable straight off 240 V mains. There is no driver and none needed; the dimming is done by a mains dimmer on the filament globe, and Havit’s HV9625 300 W dial dimmer is the matched part. It is Protection Class 1 and therefore requires an earth, which is the detail to check before committing to a retrofit.
Two of Havit’s installation steps carry the warranty with them: rubber pads on the glass tabs before the glass is fitted, and a silicone bead around the edge of the fitting after it is mounted, sealing the path water would otherwise take to the terminals. Wiring is parallel, CRI is above 80 and colour consistency is held inside SDCM 5.
Lights For You stocks the Odin alongside the rest of this Havit range, and it carries a 3 year replacement warranty.
No. Havit states it is not suitable for installation in coastal areas or environments exposed to salt water. Galvanised iron relies on a zinc coating that salt air degrades, so a 316 stainless or solid brass fitting is the correct choice near the sea.
Height and body width. The Odin is 345 mm tall and broader; the Felix is 300 mm. The lamp, the output, the 700 lumens and the 60 W ceiling are identical, so they can be mixed on one house.
It should not. IP44 protects against splashing, not driven rain, so it needs an eave, verandah or porch above it.
Yes, it is Triac dimmable from a standard mains dimmer — Havit’s HV9625 300 W dial dimmer is the matched control. There is no driver inside it.
A standard E27. Havit supplies an 8 W LED filament at 2700K and also lists 4000K and 5500K versions, with 60 W as the maximum you may fit.
Yes — it is Protection Class 1. Confirm the point has an earth before ordering, particularly if you are replacing an older fitting.
