Noyer Walnut Coloured 510mm Pendant Light

At Ø510 mm this is the second-largest Noyer pendant, and the point at which the walnut ring becomes the object in the room rather than a light above it. The body is 80 mm deep with a polycarbonate face, and it hangs on a 3,000 mm adjustable cable from a Ø120 mm × 25 mm canopy.

What it suits

A six-to-eight seat dining table, a long island bench, or a double-height entry where a smaller fitting would disappear. A 510 mm disc needs room around it: as a guide, keep the pendant narrower than the table it hangs over by a comfortable margin on each side, which in practice means a table of about 900 mm wide or more. Over a bench, one 510 does the work that two smaller pendants would, without the alignment problem two pendants create.

Output and colour

The built-in 40 W LED gives 3,500–3,700 lm across a 120° spread — a working level over a bench, and comfortably enough to be the only light over a dining table. The tri-colour switch inside the fitting sets 3000K, 4000K or 5500K at installation, and the output does not simply climb with the colour: 4000K is the brightest at 3,700 lm, 5500K gives 3,600 lm and 3000K gives 3,500 lm. Choosing warm white to suit the timber costs about 5%.

Hanging height

The cable is supplied at 3,000 mm and shortened on site, so the drop is set to the room rather than ordered. Over a dining table, 750–900 mm from the tabletop to the base of the fitting is the range most people settle on; in a stairwell or void, hang it so the underside is visible from the level below rather than centred in the space.

Timber, rating and wiring

Walnut varies — Havit states on the data sheet that colour, grain, texture, tone, knots and mineral streaks are inherent to the material and are not defects, and on a ring this size that variation is on full display. The fitting is IP20, indoor only and IK05. It is Protection Class 1, so an earth is required at the fitting, which is worth telling the electrician before they arrive. It runs on 240 V AC with no separate driver, is Triac dimmable with Havit's HV9625 300 W LED dial dimmer as the matched control, and quotes CRI >80, SDCM <6 and UGR <25.
