Nord Ceramic Table Lamp

The Nord TL is a 440 mm ribbed ceramic table lamp with a fabric shade — blue and white or cream — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied, on 1.8 metres of flex.

Ribbed ceramic — and the record listed no material at all

The base is ceramic with a ribbed surface, and our product record carried no material field whatsoever — not the ceramic, not the fabric shade.

Ribbing on a ceramic base does something a smooth glaze cannot: it catches light along every ridge, so the base reads as a series of fine vertical highlights and shadows rather than a single reflective curve. Lit from above by its own shade, that gives the lamp texture and depth by night as well as by day.

Ceramic also gives it weight — a dense, low-centred base that stays put when the flex is pulled, which on a bedside table matters more than it sounds. (The exact weight is not recorded — ask us if it is going somewhere it can be knocked.)

Blue and white, or cream

Blue with a white shade is the more decorative pairing — the ceramic reads as a coloured object and the shade stays neutral above it, which is a classic bedside look and gives a plain room a point of colour.

Cream is tonal and quiet: base and shade close in tone, so the lamp reads as one soft form rather than two parts. It disappears into a pale room, where the blue announces itself.

440 mm tall, 260 mm wide — the bedside proportion

At 440 mm the shade sits above a seated eye line beside a bed, so light comes down onto the page rather than into your face. At 260 mm wide it fits a normal bedside table without crowding the alarm clock and the book.

Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
