Product Description
xThis is the 12 V DC Nella surface-mounted downlight — a 7 W fitting that sits on the ceiling rather than recessing into it, so it needs no cut-out and suits a concrete slab, a rented property or any ceiling you cannot cut. It is supplied with a honeycomb lens, which is the detail worth understanding before you buy.
This listing is the 12 V version, and it needs a driver
Order codes HV5841S-BLK-12V and HV5841S-WHT-12V run on
12 V DC only and require a 12 V DC LED driver sized for every fitting on the
run. They must never be connected directly to 240 V — doing so destroys the
fitting immediately and is not a warranty claim. A separate 240 V version of the same fitting exists
under its own order codes; if you want to wire straight to mains, that is the one to buy.
What the honeycomb lens does
The lens is a fine black grid over the LED. It cuts the glare you would otherwise see looking up at a surface-mounted fitting, so the light reads as a pool on the floor rather than a bright dot on the ceiling. The cost is a little output; the gain is that the fitting is comfortable to sit under.
Where it works
- Concrete-slab and rendered ceilings where a recessed cut-out is not possible.
- Low-voltage runs of several fittings from one central driver, with no earth needed at each.
- Living areas and bedrooms where glare from a surface fitting would otherwise be noticeable.
- Retrofit onto an existing ceiling without patching or painting.
Specifying it
The 7 W LED is built in — no globe, no socket. Five colour temperatures are selectable at installation: 2700 K, 3000 K, 4000 K, 5000 K and 5700 K, giving 499–601 lm across the range. The beam is 60°, CRI is above 90, and it is Triac dimmable subject to a dimmable driver. IP54 and aluminium powder coated in black or white.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You. Size the driver for the whole run and order it at the same time — the most common problem on a 12 V listing is the right fittings arriving with no driver.
Questions
Can I wire this to 240 V?
No. This listing is the 12 V DC version and requires a 12 V DC LED driver. Connecting it to 240 V destroys it and is not covered. A separate 240 V version exists under its own order codes.
Does it need a cut-out?
No. It is surface mounted, so it fixes to the face of the ceiling with no hole required.
What does the honeycomb lens do?
It is a fine grid over the LED that cuts glare, so you see a pool of light on the floor rather than a bright dot on the ceiling.
How many colour temperatures?

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.
Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.
Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.
Damaged or Missing Items
Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.
If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.
Returns
Change of Mind Returns
- Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
- The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.
