Nella LED Downlight 18w Black, White CCT HV5815T-BLK, HV5815T-WHT Havit Lighting

The Nella 18 W adjustable is the largest of the surface-mounted family and the only one rated IP40 rather than IP54 — which makes it an indoor fitting, and that distinction matters more than its extra output. This listing is the 12 V DC version.

IP40 means indoors

IP40 protects against solid objects but offers no protection against water. Do not specify it for an alfresco ceiling, a bathroom shower zone or anywhere it can be hosed or rained on. Its 7 W and 12 W siblings are IP54 and tolerate splashing; this one does not. A customer who assumes a downlight family shares one rating gets this wrong.

This listing is the 12 V version, and it needs a driver

Order codes HV5815T-BLK-12V and HV5815T-WHT-12V run on 12 V DC only and require a 12 V DC LED driver sized for the whole run. They must never be connected directly to 240 V. A 240 V version exists under its own order codes.

Where it works

• Large indoor living areas on a concrete ceiling, where 18 W covers ground a 7 W cannot.
• Warehouse-style interiors and high ceilings, aimed with the adjustable head.
• Retail and display interiors needing a directed beam without recessing.
• Not alfresco, bathroom wet zones or anywhere exposed — IP40 has no water rating.

Specifying it

The 18 W LED is built in — no globe, no socket. Tri-colour switching covers 3000 K, 4000 K and 5500 K, giving 1,440–1,620 lm across the three settings, on a 60° beam. The head is adjustable, it is Triac dimmable subject to a dimmable 12 V driver, CRI is above 80, and the body is aluminium powder coated in black or white.

Coastal siting — Havit’s condition

Havit’s installation instructions for this fitting state that aluminium and 304 stainless steel fittings must not be installed within 5 km of any salt water environment. That is a condition on where the fitting may go, and it sits beside the IP rating rather than inside it: a fitting can be rated for direct rain and still fall outside this rule, because the issue is salt carried in the air rather than water landing on the surface. If your site is inside that zone, talk to us before you specify it — Lights For You can point you at a fitting whose material Havit does not name here.

Earthing and protection class

This fitting runs on 12 V DC and is Protection Class 3 — no earth is required at the fitting. The isolation comes from the LED driver rather than from an earth conductor, and the fitting must never be connected directly to 240 V.
