Nalia Black Wall Light

The Nalia is the tall, slim lantern in Havit’s galvanised-iron range — 390 mm high on a narrow body, which makes it the most vertical shape in the family. It is designed to read as a proportioned column beside a door rather than a box on a wall, and it is the one that suits a tall entry or a rendered pier where a squat lantern looks lost.

⚠ Tall does not mean bright, and here it means the opposite

This is the fact worth reading twice. The Nalia is the tallest single-globe fitting in the range and one of the dimmest: it ships with a 4 W E27 LED filament globe producing 300 lumens at 2700K, where the shorter Felix, Odin and Micah each produce 700. Height in this family tracks the styling, not the output, and buying the biggest lantern expecting the most light gets you less than half of it.

What 300 lumens is genuinely good at is ambience — a warm marker either side of a door, a lit verandah that is not glaring. If the job is to actually see by, either fit a higher-wattage globe or choose one of the 700-lumen shapes.

And a higher globe is allowed: the base is a standard, replaceable E27 and Havit’s ceiling for this fitting is 60 W, so there is a great deal of headroom above the 4 W lamp supplied. Note that Havit does not list an alternative colour-temperature globe for the Nalia as it does for some others in the range, so a 4000K or 5500K lamp would be a third-party choice rather than a matched one.

⚠ Where it must not be installed

Havit states the fitting is not suitable for installation in coastal areas or environments exposed to salt water, with no distance attached. The body is galvanised iron — zinc over steel — and salt air strips the zinc, so near the sea this range is simply the wrong material. 316 stainless steel or solid brass is the specification to move to.

Otherwise it needs shelter rather than isolation: IP44 is splash-rated, so an eave, porch or verandah roof above it, not an open wall in the weather. IK02 impact resistance keeps it domestic.

Power, dimming, install

It wires to 240 V mains with no driver required and is Triac dimmable from a normal wall dimmer; Havit’s HV9625 300 W dial dimmer is the matched part. It is Protection Class 1 and requires an earth. Two install steps are warranty conditions rather than suggestions — rubber pads on the glass tabs before glazing, and a silicone bead around the fitting edge after mounting to keep water off the terminals. Wiring is parallel, CRI above 80, colour held inside SDCM 5.
