Muse Floor Lamp

The Muse is a 1,600 mm fabric-shaded floor lamp on iron, in four colours — burgundy, beige, black and green.

Burgundy and green are the reason to look

Floor lamp shades come in white, cream, grey and black. Burgundy is a deep wine red that reads as genuinely traditional and warm; green is closer to bottle than sage. Neither is a colour you will find easily elsewhere, and on a 1.6 m shade they are a real statement.

Fabric lights the room, not just the chair

A fabric shade glows through as well as directing down, so the Muse gives ambient light to the room and a pool beneath it. That makes it a general-purpose lamp rather than a reading-only one — and a coloured shade tints that glow, which is worth knowing before choosing burgundy.

1.6 metres is tall

Above standing eye height, so the shade sits over a seated person rather than beside them. It needs the ceiling height to look right; in a low room it will crowd.

6.7 kg, and it needs to be

A wide shade at 1.6 m is a lever. The weight is what keeps it upright — and means this is a lamp you place once.

E27 to 25 W, not supplied

A warm globe suits burgundy and beige. Under a green shade, a warm globe keeps the colour rich; a cool one turns it grey.
