A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Musan SQ.24 is an 84 mm square recessed step and wall marker in black sand aluminium — 24 V, 3 W, 18 lm at 3000 K, rated IP54.
⚠ Read this before you buy: it runs on 24 volts, and the transformer is not included.
This is a Class III low-voltage fitting. It cannot be wired straight to mains. You need a 24 V DC driver or transformer, sized for the total load of every Musan on the run, and it is not supplied with the light. Nothing on our old page said so.
✅ The upside is real: low-voltage cabling is safer to run through a garden, and a single transformer can feed a whole line of markers from one point. Tell us how many you are fitting and we will size the transformer with you.
We would rather be plain about this than let you find out on site. 18 lumens is a marker, not a light.
✅ Bought for what it is, it is excellent. Set into the risers of a flight of steps or the wall of a path, a line of these is what makes a garden navigable at night without floodlighting it. ⚠ Bought as a path light, it will disappoint you — ask us about the spike and bollard lights in this catalogue instead, which run to hundreds of lumens.
IP54: dust protected and shielded against splashing water from any direction.
84 × 84 mm, 32 mm deep, 0.2 kg — small and light, but it is recessed, so the 32 mm depth is the figure that matters: your wall, riser or post needs that much behind the face. Aluminium and polycarbonate, warm 3000 K, CRI above 80, not dimmable. The LED is integrated and included. A matching round version is available — ask us.
84 × 84 mm face, 32 mm recess depth, 0.2 kg, in aluminium and polycarbonate, black sand. Integrated 3 W LED giving 18 lm at 3000 K, CRI >80, included, not dimmable. ⚠ 24 V DC — Class III, low voltage. A transformer is REQUIRED and is NOT supplied. IP54 — dust protected, splash resistant; not for pooling water or submersion. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
No. It is a 24 V Class III fitting, so it needs a 24 V DC driver or transformer sized for the total load of every Musan on the run — and that transformer is not supplied with the light. Nothing on our old page said so. Tell us how many you are fitting and we will size it with you.
No, and we would rather be plain about it. 18 lumens shows you where a step is; it does not light the step. A line of Musans reads as soft glowing squares that make a garden navigable without floodlighting it — you will not read by it or find a dropped key. If you want to light a path, ask us about the spike and bollard lights instead, which run to hundreds of lumens.
Six lumens per watt, which is far below anything else in this catalogue — and it is not a fault. A marker is deliberately shielded and deliberately dim, because the point is orientation without glare in the dark. Most of the light a general fitting would throw outwards is intentionally not thrown here.
Along a path wall, 2 to 3 metres reads as a continuous guide; wider and it reads as scattered dots. On steps, one per riser on a short flight or every second riser on a long one, set to one side rather than centred so your own foot does not shadow the next tread. Keep them at ankle to knee height.
IP54 — dust protected and shielded against splashing from any direction, so rain, sprinklers and hosing down are fine. It is not IP65 or IP67: keep it away from pressure washers, from places where water pools against it, and from anywhere it could be submerged. Because it is recessed, make sure the cavity behind it drains rather than holding water.
32 mm behind an 84 by 84 mm face. It is a recessed fitting, so that depth is the figure that decides whether your wall, riser or post can take it.
Yes — the Musan comes as a round and as this square. Ask us and we will get you the round.
