Muovi Polycarbonate Small Oval Bunker Light

The oval bunker is the shape most Australians picture when someone says "bunker light", and this is the small one: 157 mm long, 84 mm high, 40 mm off the wall. It is the least expensive fitting in the Muovi family and the one that gets bought in quantity — a run down a side passage, one per external door, a pair either side of a garage. At 5 W it is not trying to light a driveway; it is marking a doorway and putting enough light on a step to see it.

Landscape, not round, and that changes where it fits

The oval sits horizontally, which suits a narrow band of wall above a door head or below a window sill where a 150 mm circle would look crowded. It is also the shape that reads as least decorative, which is usually what you want on a service elevation. Body and diffuser are both polycarbonate — no aluminium, no 304 stainless, nothing that chalks or pits — with the opal diffuser doing the work of turning a small LED into an even panel of light.

Output

A built-in 5 W LED gives 435 lm at 3000K, 475 lm at 4000K and 445 lm at 5500K. Note the order: 4000K is the brightest, not 5500K. The colour is set on a slide switch at the back before the fitting goes up, and it arrives preset to 3000K. The beam is 120°, deliberately broad, with CRI above 80 and UGR under 29 so it does not glare at eye level — which matters on a fitting mounted at door-head height.

Wiring and limits

It runs on 240 V AC and is Protection Class 2: double-insulated, no earth required. The connection detail is the same across the Muovi range and it is not optional — the cable must be joined outside the fitting, not within it, and sealed with adhesive-lined heat shrink or a gel cap, or the warranty does not apply. Seal the rim with silicone once it is mounted.

Impact rating is IK04, which is everyday-knock rather than vandal-resistant. There is no globe, no driver and no dimming: the LED is integral and the fitting is not dimmable. Rated life is over 30,000 hours, black and white cost the same, and the warranty is 3 years replacement.
