Product Description
xThe Monteal PE1 is a 250 mm single open-lantern pendant — a black iron frame with a gold satin crown — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied, 450 mm high on a 2,000 mm suspension.
⚠ The globe is completely exposed, and no source said a word about which one to buy. This is an open lantern: a frame with nothing in it. There is no shade, no glass and no diffuser — the globe hangs in open air inside a tapering cage.
So the globe you choose IS the fitting. Get it right:
- Buy a decorative LED filament — a globe (G95/G125) or ST64 shape. An open lantern is designed around a handsome visible lamp, and that is what makes it read as a lantern rather than an empty frame.
- A bare white capsule will look unfinished, and at night it is the only thing anyone sees.
- Warm 2700 K — against the gold satin crown, cool white reads green.
- Expect glare, and hang accordingly. With no diffuser at all, the source is visible from every angle: hang it above eye level, or over a table where people look down rather than across at it.
- Any LED will do for heat — unlike the sealed lanterns in this catalogue, an open frame needs no enclosed rating.

The open frame — what it is actually for
An open lantern does something a shaded pendant cannot: it lights the room in every direction at once, and it occupies space without blocking sight.
- Over a table, you see through it to the person opposite — the frame reads as a drawn outline, not a solid object.
- In an entry or a stairwell, it gives presence without mass, which is exactly what a narrow space wants.
- The tapering silhouette and the gold satin crown are what stop it being purely industrial — the crown catches light at the top and gives the black frame a warm edge.
The trade is glare, and the globe choice, and those are the two things to get right.
The single, and the family
Monteal is made in three sizes, and this is the single. At 250 mm wide by 450 mm high it is a tall, narrow lantern — and that proportion is what makes it work in multiples:
- A row of three over a kitchen island — narrow lanterns spaced along a bench read as rhythm, where one wide fitting reads as a lid.
- A pair either side of something, or over a long table.
- Singly in an entry or at a hallway end.
- Staggered in a stairwell, on adjustable drops.
If you are hanging several, buy the globes together — on open lanterns, where every filament is on show, a mismatch between them is far more obvious than it would be behind glass.
It dims, with the right globe — and neither our record nor the page's specification table mentioned dimming at all. There is nothing in an open frame holding one E27 to prevent it.
On this fitting, dimming is not optional — it is the answer to the glare. A visible filament at full is bright to look at; taken to 30 or 40 per cent it becomes the warm glowing element the lantern is designed around, and the fitting stops being a light and starts being an object. For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.
Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.
Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.
Damaged or Missing Items
Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.
If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.
Returns
Change of Mind Returns
- Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
- The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations
Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
