The Module 16 is a recessed 12 W LED downlight — 880 lm at 5000 K cool white, CRI above 84, TRIAC dimmable, IP44, IC-4.
⚠ Two facts an installer needs, recorded and absent from our page.
⚠ And the cutout is recorded nowhere, on a recessed fitting — it is the first thing an electrician asks for. Ask us before the ceiling is cut and we will confirm it with Telbix.
⚠ The warranty is in dispute, and we would rather tell you than pick the flattering answer.
| Source | Warranty |
|---|---|
| The datasheet | 5 years |
| Our product record and page | 1 year |
| Its two sibling variants (MDL-16D-16W-930, MDL-16D-510G3) | 5 years, both |
Same module family, same construction, three variants — and this one recorded at a fifth of the term. We have published the shorter figure because we will not promise a warranty we cannot verify, and asked Telbix to confirm. Ask us before you buy and we will have the answer — on a whole-of-home downlight run, four years of cover is not a detail.
Fixed at 5000 K, and our page is right about what that suits: kitchens, laundries, garages and workspaces. 5000 K is daylight-cool, a clean slightly blue-white.
Where it does not belong: living rooms and bedrooms. A whole-house downlight run in 5000 K is the single commonest lighting regret — it is excellent over a bench and cold in a lounge. Ask us about the warm variants in the same module family if the run covers both.
CRI above 84 — better than the >80 most of this catalogue records. With cool light that is a useful pairing: in a garage, laundry or workshop you can judge colour properly, which is most of what task light is for.
73 lm/W. On a downlight grid that output is a normal domestic downlight — bright enough for a kitchen at sensible spacing, and not so bright it needs to be spaced wide.
TRIAC dimming on an ordinary wall dimmer, which on a grid of downlights is worth having: a room lit by six fittings at full is a room you cannot soften.
The MDL range is a two-part system: a frame that stays in the ceiling and a module that makes the light and can be changed without touching the plaster.
That is the reason to specify it. Most downlights are one sealed unit — when the LED fails, the whole fitting comes out, and if the replacement has a different cutout you are patching plasterboard. With a frame-and-module you swap the module: for a failure, or for a different colour temperature or beam, years later.
⚠ Check the pairing before you order. The MDL-613 frame in this catalogue takes a 90 mm cutout, and we have not been given this module's own dimensions. Tell us which frame you have or are buying and we will confirm the two go together — that is exactly the sort of thing we would rather check than have you discover on site.
75 mm deep, in aluminium — which is what carries the LED's heat away, and the single thing that most determines how long a diode actually lasts. 240 V, running directly on mains with no separate transformer.
75 mm deep, in aluminium. ⚠ Cutout and overall dimensions are not recorded — ask us before the ceiling is cut. Integrated 12 W COB LED giving 880 lm at 5000 K cool white — fixed, included, CRI >84, TRIAC dimmable. 240 V, Class I — earth required, IC-4 — may be covered and abutted by insulation, IP44 — bathrooms outside the shower zone. ⚠ Warranty is published as ONE year; the datasheet says FIVE, and both sibling variants carry five. Ask us before you buy.

Our record and page say one year; the datasheet says five — and its two sibling variants, the MDL-16D-16W-930 and the MDL-16D-510G3, both carry five years. Same module family, same construction, and this one recorded at a fifth of the term. We have published the shorter figure because we will not promise cover we cannot verify, and asked Telbix to confirm. Ask us before you buy: on a whole-of-home downlight run, four years is not a detail.
Yes — it is IC-4, rated to be covered and abutted, so no clearance gap has to be maintained around it and none can be closed up later by someone in the roof. That was recorded and appeared nowhere on the page.
Outside the shower zone, yes — it is IP44, protected against splashing water from any direction. Our page said only “Usage: Indoor”.
No source records it, on a recessed fitting — and it is the first thing an electrician asks for. Ask us before the ceiling is cut and we will confirm it with Telbix.
