The Mika PE18 is a 180 mm ribbed glass and iron pendant in satin grey — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied, on a 2,000 mm suspension.

The ribbed detail runs through glass and iron together

This is what makes the Mika range recognisable. The glass carries a ribbing that continues into the iron — the two materials share a pattern rather than simply meeting at a join. Lit, the ribs break the light into vertical lines, so the shade sparkles a little rather than glowing evenly. Against a plain wall or over a pale bench that texture is most of the effect.

Taller than it is wide, which suits a run

180 mm across and 315 mm deep — an upright proportion. Hung in a row of two or three over a bench, upright shades read as a rhythm of vertical marks where wide ones read as a row of discs. On a 100 mm canopy with 2,000 mm of adjustable suspension.

The globe is visible — choose it

One E27 to 25 W, not supplied, and behind ribbed glass it shows. A decorative filament globe suits the Mika considerably better than a plain frosted one. Dimming is globe dependent: a dimmable E27 with a wall dimmer will dim it; a plain globe will not. Our record says “No”, which is misleading.

One of a family of five

Mika runs as a table lamp, a floor lamp and three pendant sizes, all sharing the ribbed glass and satin grey. A kitchen with three of these over the bench and the floor lamp in the corner reads as one decision rather than three purchases.
