The Micah is the deep-bodied lantern in Havit’s galvanised-iron range. At 300 mm tall it matches the Felix in height, but it is a narrower, deeper shape, which changes how it reads on the wall: it projects rather than spreads, and it suits a narrow pier or the side of a doorway where a wider lantern would overhang.
Havit supplies it with an 8 W E27 LED filament globe giving 700 lumens at 2700K over a 120° spread. That is the brightest lamp in this family — the same one used in the Felix, the Odin and the small Madix — and it is genuinely functional light rather than decoration, which matters at a front door where you want to see a lock and a face.
The lamp is a normal screw-in E27, so it is replaceable, and the same globe is listed by Havit in 4000K and 5500K if warm white is not the intention. Whatever goes in must stay at or under 60 W; that is the thermal ceiling for a closed glass body, not a soft recommendation.
Havit states this fitting is not suitable for installation in coastal areas or environments exposed to salt water. The clause carries no distance limit, so it is not a matter of staying a couple of kilometres inland — near salt water, this range should not be specified at all. Galvanised iron is steel protected by zinc, and salt air removes the zinc. For a coastal project, 316 stainless steel or solid brass is the material to move to.
Inland, the constraint is ordinary shelter. IP44 handles splashing but not weather, so the Micah wants an eave, porch or verandah roof over it. Impact resistance is IK02, which is domestic-grade.
It runs on 240 V mains with no driver in it and none required, and it is Triac dimmable from an ordinary wall dimmer — Havit’s HV9625 300 W dial dimmer is the matched control. It is Protection Class 1, so an earth is required at the point.
The Micah has an extra assembly step the simpler lanterns do not: the lampholder insert unscrews so a large glass panel can be seated before the globe goes in. Havit’s instructions also call for rubber pads on the glass tabs and a silicone bead around the edge of the fitting once mounted — both are warranty conditions, and the silicone is what actually stops water reaching the terminals. Wiring is parallel, CRI is above 80 and colour is held within SDCM 5.
We keep the Micah on the shelf with the rest of Havit’s galvanised lanterns, and it carries a 3 year replacement warranty.
No. Havit states it is not suitable for installation in coastal areas or environments exposed to salt water, with no distance qualifier. Choose 316 stainless steel or solid brass for a site near the sea.
700 lumens from the 8 W E27 LED filament globe supplied, at 2700K warm white with a 120° spread. It is the brightest lamp used across this lantern family.
It is IP44, which covers splashing rather than sustained weather, so it needs an eave, porch or verandah roof above it.
60 W. It takes a standard E27 screw-in globe, and Havit supplies an 8 W LED filament. The 60 W figure is a heat limit for the enclosed glass body.
No. It wires directly to 240 V mains. It is Triac dimmable at the wall switch, and Havit’s HV9625 300 W dial dimmer is the matched control.
Yes. The same 8 W E27 filament globe is listed by Havit in 4000K and 5500K as well as the 2700K supplied, so only the globe changes.
Yes — it is Protection Class 1, so an earth must be present at the point.
