MAREN SQUARE STAIR DOWNLIGHT

The Maren SQ is a 44 × 44 mm square recessed stair downlight — 2 W, 150 lm, CRI above 90, three colour temperatures — supplied with three interchangeable frames.

Three frames in the box — black, gold and white

You do not pick a finish at purchase: all three textured frames are supplied, and they swap. So you can decide on site once the wall is painted, use different frames in different rooms from one order, or change one later when the room changes. Nothing else in this range works that way.

Square, for orthogonal detailing

The same fitting is made round; this is the square. Against a tiled riser, square-set render, or stair detailing with straight lines, a square lines up with what is already there where a circle sits on top of it. Round for curves and render, square for everything else.

Tiny — a 44 mm hole

44 × 44 mm and 28 mm deep. A very small cut-out, which matters twice over: it goes into thin walls and shallow cavities where a 75 mm step light will not, and it is visually discreet — a run down a staircase reads as a line of small points rather than a row of fittings.

150 lumens is guidance, not illumination

It shows you where the step is. It will not light the stair. One every few treads is how it is meant to be used, and at 2 W each a run of ten draws 20 W.

CRI above 90 on a 2-watt fitting

Unusual at this size and genuinely useful: it is grazing timber treads, tile, stone or carpet at close range, and colour accuracy is what stops those surfaces looking grey-green in the dark.

2700 K is available — and it is right on a stair

2700 K, 3000 K or 4000 K, selected on the fitting. On a stair used at night, the warmest setting disturbs dark-adapted eyes least, and 2700 K is warmer than most step lights offer.

Not dimmable. 240 V (220–240 V), Class II — double insulated, no earth required, IP20 — indoor only. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
