The Madix S is the single-globe version of Havit’s largest galvanised-iron lantern shape. At 383 mm tall it is a substantial fitting, and it exists mainly as the affordable half of a pair: the same silhouette is sold as a three-globe model at nearly twice the price, so the S lets you use the shape on secondary elevations without paying for the statement version everywhere.
It ships with a single 8 W E27 LED filament globe giving 700 lumens of 2700K warm white across a 120° spread. That makes it a working entrance light rather than an accent, and it is the same lamp platform as the Felix, Odin and Micah — useful if you are mixing shapes across one property and want the light to match.
The globe is a standard screw-in E27 and comes out for replacement. ⚠ The ceiling matters here and it is lower than its E27-only siblings: Havit’s sheet for the Madix specifies 40 W maximum, where the Felix, Odin, Micah, Jace and Ashton allow 60 W. Do not carry a 60 W figure across from another lantern in this range — it is a heat limit in an enclosed glass body, and the Madix sheet is the one that governs this fitting.
Havit states the Madix is not suitable for installation in coastal areas or environments exposed to salt water. There is no distance qualification in that clause; it is absolute. Galvanised iron protects steel with zinc and salt air removes the zinc, so on a coastal project the material to specify is 316 stainless steel or solid brass instead.
Inland it still needs cover. IP44 is a splash rating, so mount it beneath an eave, porch or verandah rather than on an exposed wall. Impact resistance is IK02 — domestic duty.
It runs on 240 V mains. There is no driver inside it and none required, and it is Triac dimmable from an ordinary wall dimmer — Havit’s HV9625 300 W dial dimmer is the matched control for the range. It is Protection Class 1, so an earth is required at the point.
Havit’s installation sheet makes two steps warranty conditions: rubber pads on the glass tabs before the glass is seated, and a silicone bead around the edge of the fitting once mounted, which is what keeps water out of the terminal block. Wiring is parallel, CRI is above 80, and colour consistency is held within SDCM 5.
Lights For You carries both Madix sizes so the single-globe and three-globe versions can be compared directly, and this one is backed by a 3 year replacement warranty.
This is the single-globe version: one 8 W E27 globe at 700 lumens, 383 mm tall. The larger Madix is 507 mm tall and carries three 4 W E14 globes for 900 lumens in total. Same silhouette, different scale and price.
40 W. That is lower than most of this range — the Felix, Odin, Micah, Jace and Ashton allow 60 W — so do not carry a figure across from another lantern. The Madix sheet governs this fitting.
No. Havit states it is not suitable for installation in coastal areas or environments exposed to salt water, with no distance qualifier. Specify 316 stainless steel or solid brass for coastal sites.
Yes. It is IP44, which covers splashing rather than sustained weather, so it needs an eave, porch or verandah roof above it.
Yes, it is Triac dimmable from a standard mains dimmer. There is no driver in the fitting; it wires straight to 240 V. Havit’s HV9625 300 W dial dimmer is the matched control.
A standard E27 screw-in globe, supplied as an 8 W LED filament at 2700K, with 40 W as the maximum replacement.
Yes — it is Protection Class 1, so an earth must be present.
