Madix Black Wall Light

The large Madix is the statement fitting in Havit’s galvanised-iron range: 507 mm tall, the biggest lantern of the nine, and the only one carrying three separate globes inside one glass-sided body. It is bought for presence rather than for coverage — a pair of these on a wide entry does a job no single-globe lantern does.

⚠ Three globes, and why the numbers look wrong at first glance

This fitting takes 3 × 4 W E14 LED filament globes, each producing 300 lumens at 2700K with a 120° spread. Havit’s sheet prints those as per-globe figures, which is why a spec list can appear to say “4 W, 300 lm” for a fitting that is nothing of the sort. The whole lantern draws about 12 W and puts out roughly 900 lumens — more than any single-globe fitting in this range, and noticeably more than the 700 lumen Madix S it shares a shape with.

The three-lamp layout also changes the character of the light. Three smaller sources behind glass read as a lantern with depth rather than one bright point, which is the reason the shape exists.

⚠ The base is E14, not E27

Worth checking before you buy replacements: the large Madix uses the smaller E14 candle base, while the single-globe Madix beside it on the shelf uses E27. The two models share a name, a silhouette and a data sheet, and they do not share a globe. Havit’s ceiling for this fitting is 40 W, applied per globe holder, and all three lamps are replaceable.

⚠ Where it must not go

Havit states the Madix is not suitable for installation in coastal areas or environments exposed to salt water — a blanket exclusion with no distance attached. Galvanised iron is zinc-coated steel and salt air attacks the coating, so for anything near the sea the correct specification is 316 stainless steel or solid brass.

The weather limit inland is IP44: splash-rated, so it needs an eave, porch or covered entry above it rather than open sky. Impact resistance is IK02.

Power, control and install

It wires directly to 240 V mains with no driver in the fitting and none required, and all three globes are Triac dimmable together from a single wall dimmer — Havit’s HV9625 300 W dial dimmer is the matched control. Wiring is parallel, so the three lamps run independently and one failing does not take the others with it. It is Protection Class 1 and requires an earth.

Havit makes two assembly steps warranty conditions: rubber pads on every glass tab before glazing, and a silicone bead around the edge of the fitting after mounting. CRI is above 80 and colour is held within SDCM 5, which matters more here than usual — three globes in one body will show any mismatch between them.
